I have a BW 13-56 in my truck and it has 132k something miles on it and I was wondering if it would be smarter to just find an NP205 to swap in since I have read that those are stronger and more reliable. Is it a direct bolt in swap, or is there drilling/welding required? Also, is there an easy doubler kit for either transfer case? Thanks in advance. Austynn

Ok your 13-56 is fine all accept that the oil pump could go out at any second, and cause your planetary to explode.

Yes the 205 will bolt right in, but you will not have a plave to plug in your 4x4 indicator light, big woop.

Also it is about 7" or so shorter than you 13-56.

If you are beating the crap out of your truck, swap in the 205.

There is a great doubler kit, that i have.

you just need the front half ( range box) from a 203 and get the adapter and bolt on whatever ford x-fer you want.

The only real draw back to the 205 is that the low range is 1.96 to 1

What vehicles, specifically were the 205's found in?

older f-series and Full size broncos.. don't confuse the NP203 and the 205, unless doing the doubler, then get one of each..

Try any fullsize non-fulltime 4x4 Ford between 75 and 79. 203's can be found in fulltime F250's of the same vintage.

I got one of the Stazworks / JED Fabrication Doublers also, they are nice units, and priced right compared to others on the market!

Yeah, Thats the way to go, If you have any welding capanility make sure to get the clock-abel (indexable) what-ever style. so you can adjust the 205 to the attitude you want.

The shifters are easy to make too.
So don't buy the expensive ones.
