sorry havnt been posting much running a new shop is a lot of work , anyway we are going to sponsor a clean up at the greenhorn creek area in grass valley in late march ,early april .the area has been riddled with trash and burned out cars and if something isnt done it will be targeted for closure like so many other areas for off-road use .. we are planning on a bbq , raffle and of course clean up of the land surrounding greenhorn
.. i would like to get an idea of people interested in helping with this clean up .. so here is another chance for you to get involved with a worthy cause to keep off road access open for all to enjoy

thnx alan

count me in. I've never been there so kinda curious, what's there? Where will we be able to take trash/cars?/etc. Do you want trucks or the 'manpower' because my car is a heck of a lot more comfy but I will bring my truck if we need to haul stuff. I will also try getting our club to help out. Just let us know when. Will this be publicized? If you need help with media, let me know.

Alan,

Pick a date so I can get it on the calendar and if I'm not already busy then I'm there.

I'd avoid Easter weekend, and the weekend before since alot will be out of town traveling.

Also, if whoever "WE" is had a web page with details and a signup sheet, then its easier for *us* to invite/encourage/pressure our friends to show up.

thanks for all the support , i will try and get a date up as soon as possible , or if you all have suggestions for the date that would help also . as far as WE it will be be my shop crawltec in conjunction with j & j motorsports and hopefully sierra extreme ,any others that would like to help in organizing please contact alan or luke at 530-477-0140 . right now no plans are set in stone so your input would be a ton of help . i am told that the county would supply a big dump truck , all we have to do is hual the trash to or near the trail head . i believe that to be true for the burned out cars also .

big rich i wont be able to make the first event but the rest of the events we will be in attendance .

Since I'm the local boy when it comes to the Greenhorn, I went down there this weekend to see what's up. Plenty of stuff to cleanup. Saw 3 full size vehicles right where Red Dog crosses the road. Didn't go all the way up to Buckeye, but last time I was there, there was plenty to do there as well.

Creek is beginning to rise. Saturday (before rain) the creek was about 18" deep and about 4 feet wide. Hope it doesn't fill up like it did a few years ago. I've seen it bank to bank (approx. 200') x 8 feet deep  . Generally, that happens after spring thaw, but this year, w/ El Nino, it could come early. If that happens, all the trash, etc. is going to end up in Rollins Reservoir, so the cleanup could require scuba gear :)

Wife was with me this weekend when I went there. "You're NOT going in the creek" she said. OK, I said as I downshifted and blasted up one of the 35' banks. :flipoff2:

She was quiet all the way home.

i posted about this clean up on two more sites. i figure the more the people the better to help get this going and cleaned and what ever extra hands we can get. I am sure on one of the two sites there will be people there to help on the other one it is looking mighty sad......:mad3:
call them selves 4x4 and when ya post a clean up they all hide...piss me off....:nuke:

Not too bad up at the Buckeye end (went last weekend, going again today) mostly messy campfire pits, some shooting leftovers. The only rigs are stuck 3'-4' in sand banks. I will post again when I get back today. And yep that water is cruising :D

" i am told that the county would supply a big dump truck , all we have to do is hual the trash to or near the trail head . i believe that to be true for the burned out cars also . "

May need our own trailers and/or sawzalls to get the burnt cars out...the county or whoever probably won't take cars...

But I'm interested...how bout some directions etc? Keep us posted when it's getting close.
