I put my FJ 40 in the shop today to regear and get front and rear ARBs and the guy asked if since it was gonna be apart anyway would I be interested in going ahead and installing some Marfields and then using my stockers for spares. My question is are these things worth it, and how do they hold up? Put this here to get everyone's opinions.

I think the Super Birfield is the route to go....head over to the Mini Truck section and read all about them.

As for the Newfields.....

The superbirfs are strong enough to break inner axles. I broke and inner last year with my fj40 and Bobby long broke an inner yesterday. Give him a call or look at the webpage.

Did you break a "super birfield" or one of Marlin's "Marfields"?

It seems to me that the "super birfields" are the best way to go...

Don't EVEN waist your money on Marfields. I have broken 4 of them. Took me 4 months to get the first ones warrentied. If you need to upgrade because you are breaking stock ones, go with Bobby Long's Super Birfield. I haven't been able to break one yet. Bobby seem to be able to come through with the product too.

marfields are not any better that stock birfs. bobby longs birfs are the way to go.I am sick of changing them I have broken 8 is less than seven months, and I don't go out looking to break my junk . So I have built a rc d44 since there are many companies building stronger parts for a dana44.

Now do the Super Birfields work on Land Cruisers I was under the impression that they were for the trucks? These are the ones from the front page of the BB article right?

Bobby has about 5 of the old course spline birfields at the shop for your landcruiser if thats what you have. He can fix them up but he'll tell you that he cant guarantee the whole birfield because after he's finished with it the end of the birfield will be the weak point.not the bell and inner cage. the landcruiser birfields are not as beefy as the toyota pickups. If you have the cruiser with the fine spline birfs then no problem!

I haven't broken any Marfields. You know why? Because I found out through this board they don't hold up well. I figured someone that has like 4000 posts would have read about the Marfield problems along time ago. Or at least did a search.
