Jurgens was a decent place to play around on but as far as I know it's still fenced/chained off. Other than that there's a place in granite bay near the lake but a lot of poison oak and pretty hidden if you don't know where it's at.

Head up to Iron Mtn. for some snow it's not that much further :)

If you're looking for something close in you're going to be stuck with Prarie City. It's not really a "trail" so to speak, but it's a place to play around at.

nothing close everything is pretty much an hour drive for you to get to... also most trails are in the upper elevations which are snow covered now

there is a gate for a reason, IT IS CLOSED. find somewhere legal to do your wheeling. there are plenty within an hour drive. go to prarie city if you need a wheeling fix nearby.

Jergens is closed and with some work it might be opened this summer again. Please stay away from that trail and help protect any chance we have of opening that trail again. :)

Thanks.

I havent been down that way in almost a few years...................I think a trip to recon the entrance would be good. If fawking kids are going around the entrance and have created their own bypass that wont be good.

where is Lamida? is it the same as Jergens? does the entrance include "after jumping the curb"?
I don't want to be somewhere I shouldn't, mostly because I don't want to screw up access for anyone else, but if there is somewhere close, that I could run over to with one of the kids afterschool or something... well, It would be nice

lamida is in granitbay, its an ok wheelin spot but i havent been there in a year because it got fenced off but apparently it theres a new way to get in but im not too sure if its legal again or not...

Lamida is much better then it used to be and there is a new entrance

i don't know where exactly this is or any thing about it but it sounds like it may be trespassing. if there was a fence put up around it and now there is a "new entrance" it sounds to me like they don't want people back there.

we have (imo) some of the best trails in the country around here. there is no need to trespass where you are not supposed to be.

I highly advise you to stay the fawk out of the jergens trail , as this has been a huge land use issue that has been all the way to court.

dont be dumb.......for every one elses sake , as the powers that be are working on access rights for us.

PM Skynard in this board , maybe he'll let you on his rock pile:laughing: if you think you got the stuff:evil:

the only problem with jergens is that there is some big asswhole that owns the land you have to drive thru to get down to weber creek. BLM even has problems with the guy hes a real dick, walked out side his home with a shotgun on some friends i know that have been wheelin the trail for years, used to be a good time..all in the past now.....

if people could have a bit more respect for others, maybe he wouldn't have to be such an asshole. that place was getting thrashed and the people that were doing it were using his property for access.

if people were thrashing my neighborhood and playing loud music at all hours of the night and using my property to get there, i would do the same thing he did.

this has been a great thread in that several local places have been discussed. Access, or the lack of access, and the responsibility for that lack of access. I've been "wheelin" in Northern California since I was a kid, and all I see are trail after trail, access point after access point being closed. I'm from the Marysville area, mostly wheeled the river bottoms and around Grass Valley/Nevada City. I'm new in the Sacramento area, I'm looking for a place I can go in the afternoons or evenings with my kids, or just a place to fool around on a day off that's close to home. I want to go play, I'm not willing to screw up todays access, or possibly limit tomorrows access to do it, gates and fences have become the new reality in this sport, hobby, whatever you want to call it. I'd just like to be able to grab one of the kids after work, jump in the Jeep, and go play for an hour or two. I enjoy the big trips, the 'Con and Fordyce rock! I'm looking forward to HellHole and Barrett, as well as trying some others, but I want to play close to home as well.

The trail you all know as Jergens is NOT closed. BLM does however restrict motorized access during the winter/wet months. The access through the private property was/is illeaglly blocked by the moron:mad3: owner who wants exclusive access. . The access problem will soon be addressed by the locals/me who have been using this trail for over 30 years, and when reopened will be policed with any violators of ANY law, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. My advice is to STAY AWAY!!!!!

basically the trail isn't closed but it is land locked by private property, correct? sounds like you live close to there, do you know if there is foot access to the area with out trespassing? i was going up to that area before about '93 and would be very interested to learn more about regaining vehicle access.

I went up to Lomida rd this afternoon, and there is a turnoff into a field and onto what looks like the beginning of a dirt road. I drove in a bit and found a water crossing. I didn't go any further, but I did not see any "no trespassing signs". I did see some further down the paved road in either direction, so I don't know exactly where this trail would lead, and if it would be legal to continue, I didn't have to jump a curb, or go around any kind of gate or obstacle to get as far as I did. Was I in the right place? just a little bit off of Auburn Folsom Rd.? and is there any place to go in there thats legal?:cool2:

Yes, off green valley road / deer valley, and that's all I think we should mention on a public forum about a trail that is not legally accessable at the moment. We don't want random yahoos going out there trying to "BUST IN".

We've cleaned up jergens # of times, was a fun trail to run to relax... saw a good # of dirtbikers and casings on the ground it was used by mor than wheelers.. probably still used by hikers.
