A while ago someone was interested in anti-roll bars for a TLC. Recently I was looking through a Jegs catalog that had Torsion antiroll bars for hot rods. They should be fairly easy ot modify to fit most of the 4x4's out there.

Here is the link (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=31152&prmenbr=76)

And a pic of the torsion bars...

I would think the easiest thing would be to get one off a Pig.

No argument there Nolen,
Can I have the one off of your new pig???

:D

I figured that this is just another way of getting the same thing accomplished... Besides, brand new and $200 is not all that bad. Plus it would be easy to mount it in the front as well...

yeah sway bars stop body roll, and reduce wheel travel,
came factory on the rear of HJ47s and front of 60 and 75 series cruisers
pretty common, easy to fit, need modifications for springovers tho' here anyways

i was thinking if i bought the ranchos and cranked them up to 5 it would be like having sway bars..no?

turning up the Rancho's will help a bit. but nothing compared to a well set up anti-sway bar.
The torsion type actually do allow for articulation and it is fairly easy to make disconnectable bars :D

One of the TLC specialty shops (MAF/Specter/Downey) has a swaybar kit for the 40's.
No idea on the price though. I noticed it when I was catalog flipping the other day.

definetly keep us updated on the 55 sway bar! i need something for the 45 because it's a real door handle dragger around town. otherwise i might opt for the jegg's torsion bar setup. ;)

I believe I have a spare 55 Sway bar. Who wants one? Contact me by PM and we can negotiate.

I know I should be slammed for bringing up Je@p stuff but,
the Currie anti-rock is a great set up, I'm sure it would be easy to modify it to fit a Cruiser, you could probably get it to fit on the back also.
We installed one on a new TJ last year, it works great, you also have several settings to choose from, there is a noticable difference from the soft setting to the firm setting.
Stiffening up the shocks help but kill the ride.
You can still have a soft ride and no side sway if you run a good sway bar, not some 1/2 diameter crap, but something off a full size truck

The antiroc bar was alredy discussed. But since there is not a really good picture any where of it the JEGS torsion bar was the picture I picked. Antiroc is a nice piece of equipment though :-)

There really is not much difference between the two. Both work on the same concepts.

Turning your shocks up does help with quick turns but a long turn will do nothing for a long turn...
