Could someone please send me pics of a 22RE in a Samurai with a 4WD Tranny
I am mostly interested in how far the tranny sticks out into the engine compartment.
Top view, side view and so on.

Thanks

is there any info on this swap? i have an 84 toyota with 125,000 and a motor that should run good once i get a few bucks into it. the frame is about shot could be used but might not be worth it. my samurai isnt running good ready to die. how much work is it to swap everything? better with finding and buying a 1.6? or rebuild the 1.3?

the axles could be used but as long as i keep liking my 30inch crap tires i think ill keep my stock ones.

I have a 22r with a toyota 4speed and a sami t-case in my samurai.I am currently in the middle of swapping a toyota 5speed and toyota t-case.I will be swapping dana 44s at the same time.If you look at my earlier post, there is only six, you can see some early pictures of the swap. When i finish the current swap i will post more pictures.

Approximately how far into the engine compartment is the tranny bell?

Thanks

Without measuring i would say the bellhousing is about 2 inches in the engine bay.I can still get the bellhousing bolts out from under the hood. With the engine in the current location i have to run a pusher fan on the stock radiator, this leaves a couple of inches between the pulleys and the radiator. If my engine was any further back i would not be able to access the heater core hoses.

Frank when I ran the 16 v to Toy stuff the front of the trans minus the bell was about 2.5 inches behind the Firewall. With the adapter and 16v bell it sat 2.5" onto the eng. compartment now add 2 more inches to that the Truck bell is around 7.5 total

Frank I have been gone for awhile, but the bell housing is about 2" away from the firewall it is better then if it was in toyota, for the toyota is right against the firewall and the bellhousing bolts are a PIA, I can get to the bolts real easy, Im running the stock toyota radiator with 2 puller electric fan's and it all fitt good if u need more pic's let me know. Sorry I should have told you the reason for the bellhousing being in front of the firewall is because the back of the motor hit's the heater hoses and I wanted to use the heater so I run it ahead enough to clear the hoses.
