Hello,

I was just wondering if anybody knew what axles come in the new 3500 Rams. Any info would be great.

THANKS

The 3500 has the 11.5 rear. THe '05 2500 hemis have the 10.5 (like the power wagons) and the diesels get the 11.5 in 2500 and 3500 SRW(I have one) and DRW

WTF are you talking about??? DODGE... It may have 14 bolts, but don't confuse everyone here.

WTF are you talking about??? DODGE... It may have 14 bolts, but don't confuse everyone here. It is a '14-bolt'..not the same as the chebbie...BUT built by the same manufacturer (AAM) and comparable in size and strength as well as to the Dana-80 in size and strength.

Basically the same axle as the 14 bolt semi floating rear axle in GM's.

the ring gear is 11.50". that is bigger than a Dana80 or a 14 bolt. the thing is fucking HUGE.

Actually the D-80 has an 11.5" ring gear as do certain '14-bolts'. Chebbie has used a few versions of the '14-bolt' and they have ranged from 10" to 11.5" ring gears. I think most folks who speak of them for swaps will be talking about at least a 10.5" 14 bolt...if not an 11.5".

D-60 has between 9.5" and 10" ring gear (different sizes over time)...the new fords claim to use either a 9.75" or 10" D-60 up front but I have seen them measured from 9.5" to 10".

D-70 is a 10.5" ring gear...compare this to the 10.5" 14-bolt chebbie, the 10.5" sterling in the fords, and the 10.5" in some of the '03 and early '04 model 3/4 ton dodges (hemis and SO cummins).

D-80 is 11.5" ring gear comaprable to biggest 14-bolt chebbie, and the new 11.5" AAM '14-bolt' in '03+ HO cummins 2500 and 3500 rams.

Remember also that not all D-70's and D-80's are created equal. Some of the 70's have the 10.5" ring gear BUT have D-60 sized/spline shafts...same for the 80's...some of them have the D-80 ring gear BUT have D-70 sized/slpined shafts.
