: What tires? TSL Radial, TSL SX, or just plain TSL

OK...here is the setup. TJ with Dana 60's front and back, V8. 99% off-road. (Trailer Queen). I want to move up from my 35's. Did a lot of work over the past few months and I have plently of room for some bigger ones. I want to stay in the 38" range (Not 39's). I also want to be the 15" wide range. I am bolting them on a set of MRT's beedlocks, 10 inches wide.

I like the TSL Radial...just because I like the idea of having a radial tire. And I like the size better (38x15.50R-15LT) However, I don't like the extra price. At this point I guess I am leaning towards the 38.5x14.50-15LT SX.

Also....I see the regular TSL listed as 16/38.5-15LT. Does that mean 16 inches wide on a 15 inch wheel? (I wish they would keep the tires listed the same all the way through their product line).

Which ones should I go with?

thanks!

no reason really to go with the regular TSL. If your rig is only offroad why woudn't you want bias plies? The SXs are definitely the way to go for a trailer queen. They're the most bulletproof tire made and grip as well as anything anywhere close to the price.

Go with the SX's. Since you are from Tulsa, I assume you have or will wheel in Disney, and Clayton. The conditions in Disney are pretty hard on tires, and the extra sidewall is a good thing. In Clayton, I have climbed dozens of rocks, stumps, roots, etc. just on the sidewall of my SX's. I have also seen several sliced tires in Clayton, again, the extra sidewall is a bonus. I would say that since you are running 60's (The wieght of the SX shouldn't be an issue) and you don't want to run 39's (SX's don't get that big.:() Definetly go with the SX. Don't buy radials for a trail rig, there isn't an advantage to them.

SX's. No question.

I agree, run the SX's. Make sure to run them with the raised letters to the inside, cause once they get torn off, the sidewalls don't stand a chance (at least in my experience--I've destroyed 3 35-15.50's like this  )

OK...the SX's. I like that.

What is the weight of these and the true tire height compared to my 35x14.50 SSR's?

thanks!

I would definitely suggest the SXs as well. I had the TSL Radials and they just plain sucked. Now I run the SXs (even for a daily driver). For straight mud the bias TSLs are better, but for rocks and an all around sturdier tire, go SX.

Shipping weight on my 38.5x14.50 SXs was 89 lbs a piece (just tires, no rims, etc).

you're worried about the weight of the tire when you have D60s front and rear? just run the SX, it's a no brainer...save your thinking for something else.

Nope...not worried about the weight of the tire. I was just wanting to know for shipping reasons. :)

Got 5 SX's 38.5x14.5R15 to my door for $1180.00. That's a decent deal isn't it?

thanks.

yeah that's about the best you'll get. Not TOO hard to find at that price, but basically impossible to find any lower.
