What features would you want in a soft top?

Anything out there that you like and dont like?

New ideas? Something you'd like to see in a new product?

how about something that doesnt rip apart when it gets near a tree or rock. well, i guess since thats not possible, how about something that goes on and off a lot easier on older YJs? it takes 2 people and 15 minutes to put those damn tops on.

I agree with the easy on/off option.

Personally I like the header style attachment that is on the newer TJ's. No messing w/ stuffing the leading edge into the channel.

Some other things I like would be:

Scrath resistant windows

Hard plastic windows in a soft top

Sailcloth option

Dual window option, reg and tints.

Edit: So everyone knows, these ideas are being passed onto a engineer who will be developing a new design. Your ideas will be heard.

Any chance you're going to make some of these way cool soft tops for early CJs? I's sure like to have the choice of something besides the one model Bestop and STC (Kayline) make.

They do? The only one I've ever seen is the tiger top. Are you with Bestop? What are the other models? Do they come in any other color besides black?

Yup, im a grunt over there. One of the engineers asked me for some input, so I'd like to give some of you the chance bring some issues up.

We make the Supertop for the Cj5 too. It has the zip out windows, belt rail, etc. Colors are 01 Black, 04 Tan, 09 Charcoal, 15 Black Denim.

I hoping this thread will provide info from the users. Kinda a quick PBB focus group. If the mods feel this shouldnt be here let me know

I'm looking for a top for my CJ-3A. As far as I know the tiger top is the only thing available, and you can get it any color you want so long as it's black. I'd buy a supertop for it if you make one.

how about a top that doesnt stretch so dam much in the summer and not shrink so much in the winter. id like to see some better options for sealing around full hard doors, maybe a metal door surround like the yj's with factory tops...but curved for the doors...and i hate having the rear spreader bar as far up as it will move(supertop) and its still waaaay too loose

I'm working on a replacement top for my Samuria out of Coverlight. It's the material used for equipment covers (often covering stuff on flatbed semi trailers), damn tough stuff, rip and abrasion resistant. You glue it up which is just as strong if not stronger as sewing. The hard part is making the jigs to hold the seams while they cure.
The window material is from a marine fabric supply shop and are about 50% thicker than OEM... should be a very tough top if I ever finish it... :)

i built a couple tops for my 90 yj out of reinforced rubber roofing//
i built a half cab with tonneu cover & also a white bikini top to deflect heat//
only problem so far is alot of condensation overnight//
this stuff does not tear eassily//
& if it does you can heatweld a patch on it & it is better than before//
all seams heatweld//any shape/around anything

any ideas on how to get rid of the condinsation?? this stuff is made out of p.v.c! i have lined gutters,bathtubs, tyons of roofs/

How about asking somebody why the Supertop is not offered with Sailcloth?
I'd have bought one if they did.
I e-mailed Besttop and never got a reply.
