I am about to buy an 8 lug Dana 44 from an 80' 3/4 ton Chevy and was wondering if you all knew some specs on it. Looking for...
Possible gear ratios?
Spline counts?
Width (both total width and from spring perch to spring perch)?
Anything else that you can tell me?

The Dana 44 axle you are looking at should have 4:10 gears in it,not sure as far as spline count but spring perch width is the same as 1/2 ton and will bolt right up, just make sure you dont damage the brake lines when doing the swap.or :skull: or :nuke: will happen.

Should be 30 inners and 19 outers.

If it came out of a 80 Chevy and was from a 80 Chevy it's not a D44 it's a Corprate 10. really about the same strenth and a whole lot easer to set up gears in than a D44.
Some years 3.73 was the default gear on the 3/4s I believe it was still so in 80. Check the glove box door. I think that's still old enough that you didn't have to decipher the codes. If it's anything but the default gear it will be listed on the build tag. Not sure where to check to confirm what the Default gear was.

If its a 44 it will have a tag on the front cover stating the ratio. Of course it might have been removed................:skull:

I think that would be a 10 bolt, about 69" wms - wms.
Not real sure though
