OK i have a Dana 60 rear that has Ford 9" ends welded on it, i was going to respline a set of 31 spline ford 9" axles cuz they are 5 on 5.5 and have bearing and seals on them already. These axles are readily available and cheap to respline. so i was wondering if i could respline one 35...I know what you are thinking their is not enough material there to do that. My Dana 60 is only 60" wide (so i only have to carry one spare and it matches the front) so if i chop enough axle off the ford 9" would their be enough material to go to 35? what thickness do they need to get the axle 35 spline? or is this a pipe dream?
tring to stay cheap and not go to moser.

Yes I have searched too!

Pipe Dream...the 31 spline are what about 1.3" and you need 1.5" to be able to respline to 35...also something you might want to think about iswhen you respline your new splines are not as strong as the rolled factory ones...I would pay the $299 and go moser 35 spline with 5X5.5" and then you wont have to worry about your splines:D

DAMN it was worth a shot! i dont have the $$$ to get the moser right now. i am only running 36's right now and with the shafts the same lenght it wont be a huge deal to nuke one...thanks

Go measure a 9" axle shaft up past the splines. If it is bigger than 1.5" then you should be able to respline it (remember it will have to be shorter so make sure it is long enough for you axle). I know these axles get bigger in diameter past the splines so it may work.
