Has anyone had luck removing some leafs from the front springs on a Sky Jacker 4 " kit? I'm running SOA with D60's and 38.5's and don't want to be this tall and would like a little more flex in the setup.

I made a custom pack out of a set of 4" triangles and a set of stock springs for the same reason. You should be able to pick up a stock set for next to nothing.

start from the bottem leaf and work your way up untill you are happy with it.

I tried this with mine when I had the skyjackers and didn't like the end result. So, I swapped over to 44044s.

Dont remove the leaf. Get a stock leaf pack and start mixing, remove a leaf from the sky pack and replace it with one from the stock pack.

Shadowman has 4" springs with one leaf removed ~ IIRC.

I have one removed in the rear and have a torque arm. But thats going to change. :D If you remove one in the front and don't have a reverse shackle, at least, you will probaly stuff your tire into the firewall when you have to turn and drive down off a obsticle. Trust me, thats no fun when you have no steering and that tire is locked up!! Thats why I run longer springs in the front that puts the axle ahead 1 more inch. I still will barely rub the firewall under extreme flex while turning. :)

Quick ~ PM me your plans so I can copy them (like I copied your tires). ;)

Don't you have work to do in YOUR shop on CUSTOMER'S rigs? Get back to work!! :flipoff2:
Besides, I'm sure your hidden camera and spys will keep you updated.
I'm sure they have let you know that right now I'm installing a aluminum flywheel, 3 puck clutch, lightweight pressure plate, 4.11s, Lingenfelter half shafts, A backbone stiffner, and new syncro's. Damn N2O! :grinpimp:

Shadowman,

Are you running your 4" leafs sprung over? I really need to lose some lift.

It looks like a cut and turn is in order also. The drive shaft angle was 30 degrees :shaking:

30 degrees?!? WOW ~ Ya, I'll agree - a cut-n-turn is in order ~ OR you can polish it up and sit a look at it like *I* do! :shaking::eek::rolleyes:

Bling is my preference, why else would I wheel a scout...

Yes, its spring over. My rear line is 18*. I have some rear springs that are like the XLC type. 1/2" thick leaves. With them being 4" lift also, it was excessively tall. I have a body lift and cut the hell out of the body to clear the tires. I also don't have inner front fenders too. Removing them gave me allot more room. Especially in the front of the front tires. If you can't tell, I have a aversion to lifted trucks. I can still fit in the Garage. 6'10 1/2". I can still pull it down more with the suspension though.
As soon as I finish with my Vette, I am going to start on the Scout. Its going to get paint, body work, new top and other Mall cruiser goodies. Then it is back to tearing it up again. :smokin: One thing thats funny here in Phoenix. I have taken it to some cruises and car shows. beat up as it is.. I parked it next to a New Viper one time. I thought the Viper dude was going to crap his pants because I was parked next to him. I really got a kick out of the people at the cruise. They flat ignored the Viper and was questioning me alot about the Scout. You should have seen the scour look on that Viper guys face. :D

Yugo springs work real well.

yugo springs??
Just kidding man. Yugo door seals work good though, seriously.

It all depends on high you want to be :smokin: , what size tires you want to run, and how willing you are to trim the sheet metal. Keeping your center of gravity low to the ground will give you more stability in off-camber situations.

What size tires are you running ~ I use 2 or 2.5" springs for 35" and taller tires. Anything more than 36s need some trimming. If you want to cut more, but keep your COG down, go with stock springs...but you may need lift springs for tires over 37s.

ultimatly i want to run 38 inch tires. it already has a 2 inch body lift. i like to do hill climbs, trails and moderate rocks. i plan on doing minor sheet metal cutting. it will mostly depend on how much money i have.
