: 60 Knuckles?
Scott@Rockstomper 02-12-2002, 02:28 PM Okay, I'm trying to find knuckles to make a 9"/60 hybrid out of, now that I've broken my D44 front with my GerbilPower and 44's.
I tried to find Sunray Engineering, but the phone number listed is a fax machine, and Qwest has them listed as a General Contractor in Weatherby, TX. ???
I called Currie, they want $2300 for the knuckles and brakes and whatnot, plus another $200/pr for the inner knuckles, plus $900 a set for custom axles to fit the 9" center I'll put in it... ouch! I know Moser will beat the snot out of the axle price, but that doesn't help much when there's still $2500 in pieces-n-parts elsewhere.
Even just the mention of "Dynatrac" made my wallet shrivel up int a prune.
So, anybody got any other ideas, or anybody got a broken 60 housing they'd like to saw the knuckles off of to sell me?
XJEric 02-12-2002, 02:34 PM Check Ebay. I've seen all the pieces you've listed there from time to time. I've been kicking around building a 1 ton 9" front for awhile.
onetonwillysands10 02-12-2002, 02:40 PM Actually I talked to dynarape about the same pieces some time ago and they priced my $159.99 for the inner piece of the knuckle(sometimes referred to as the "c" casting) which welds to the tube and $329.29 for the outer portion of the knuckle which the spindle attaches..Sunray's phone number is 817-594-9201.I talked to them to and they said they didn't have any for sell and actually said they were constantly lookign for them. However, the guy I spoke to there (gerald) said they were considering producing their on knuckles.Hope this helps.:D
gunracer1 02-12-2002, 02:45 PM i will sell you a set for 250 plus shipping. they are off a military chevy with 30 k on the odometer. i am firm on the price, i will cut them off 2" from the weld. i can post some pics here in a couple of minutes. mike
onsafari 02-12-2002, 02:45 PM If I remeber right when I talked with Sunray about building some Hybrid 9" they told me that they got there knuckles from donor D60's. So they probally won't be able to sell you a set. Also onetonwilly is right, someday they will have there own knuckle design and won't have you use the donors. This should lower there price on there axles a little. :D

Tell me more, PM me a phone number... ?
I'm not sure if I need the brakes, but what I'd ultimately like to get would be everything from that 2" from the weld, outboard. Is that what you had in mind, or something different? I'm flexible on little stuff like wheelbearings and lockouts, but the more complete, the better.
Oh, and since I've got a UPS account, I can call-tag 'em--basically, you box it, UPS picks it up, brings it to me, and bills me for the shipping. All you do is box-n-weigh.
gunracer1 02-12-2002, 03:06 PM just the knuckles, i don't have the spindles. here is a couple of pics.

It is not listed in the spicer front and rear axle assemblies catalogs. It is an item that has to be obtained from the manufacturer according to the catalog. If a bearing hub cost $438 dollars at the dealership imagine what the "c casting" portion of the knuckle will run you if you can get it seperate from the "housing assembly" from GM..The price listed above from dynarape is actually not to bad for the inner piece..A little high on the outer;but, you could locate outers on ebay or in a junkyard.:D
Oxjockey 02-13-2002, 06:45 AM I sent you a PM.

Just kidding what your getting is a great deal, These would hurt too...
Okay, I just gotta know... what *IS* that? It looks like it came off a square axle tube, which would suggest military, but all the military big stuff I've seen, is closed knuckle.
Realsquash 02-13-2002, 10:07 AM They look custom to fit on a rear axle housing possibly? That might explain the squareness...
Squash
