How many miles? How old is the O2 sensor? How old is the cat? Usually if the O2 sensor is bad it will give you high COs, unless you have other vaccum problems.

The motor has about 100,000 the cat is old as the jeep, the co sensor is pretty new i think but i am missing one of those little plastic vacume hoses that goes to the air cleaner.
thanks kev

Time for a new cat bud

I'll bet you 100$ that you'll pass with a new cat!

Here's what you need to do!
1)new fuel cap
2)New filters all
3)Buy some of that "pass smog" crap from any auto store and also some stuff called "HEET" its a gas preservative for extreem cold. Add these both to a 1/4 tank of gas, drive you truck for 30 mins on the freeway... NICE AND HOT
4)With your cat nice and hot, it will effectively burn all the HC and O2 & NO.

AND PASS THAT SMOG :)

:)

PS: INSTALL THE CAT 1 DAY BEFOR YOU GET SMOGGED :) AND CHECK FOR AIR LEAKS

i have heard you don't want to use high octane gas. It is less volitile & will not burn as completely as lower octane.

Well I havnt hear crap about that, I have only "DONE THIS"

I own a 1985 Ford Ranger with a 2.8L V6 it gets about 6-10mpg and would never pass smog, unless in installed a new cat, and ran fuel additive...

Trust me these will help....

The higher the octain the better it will burn and the cleaner...

EGR valve. Clean it out .......replace the gasket and go pass smog.
