Alrighty Binders, this board is grinding to a halt when it comes to tech ~ so lets get the wheels turning again ~ What did y'all do this last weekend. I know JoshC hasn't shared pictures of BlueBot lately ~ or Rueben (that's a call-out  )

Rusty: I put the 14-bolt under rusty and fitting the 4-link stuff to it. Got it all welded up and started removing the drums.

Terra: Put the T-all front axle under it, turned knuckles and welded perches front and rear. U-bolts, and some hardware. Got the correct parts for the Disc rear. Got my flat-top knuckles back from the machinist and got the arms & spacers tumbled. Picked up new ball joints ~ just need to install crap.

So anyone else?

Got my radiator support welded in and started on building my core support/fan shround assembly.

I'll start on my flat top highsteer when I get them from you. No UPS today yet. :flipoff2:

When the seats come I'll start building seat brackets.

This past weekend.....Made a firewall out of aluminum. Fabed and mounted both my master cylinder/ brake pedal assy and orbital valve/ steering wheel assy. Mounted the trans shifter and did some final work on all the gearbox shifters. Welded the "OH SHIT!" handle inside the cage.
It's down to mostly small stuf now. :D

Got my 37 x 12.5 x 16.5's mounted on the rear dana 70. They look great. The wheel offset is pretty wide but a different wheel should fix that. Also I installed my 160 amp alternator and got the relays for my headlights all finished. I still need to intall the front Dana 60 and the 3.15 dana 20 I have ready to go.

Thanks Josh.

I forgot to mention the carnage. I fragged my dana 20, its been popping the rear drive out of low range when under load for awhile, I finally got tired of it and lashed the stick for the rear to the dash to hold it in. It lasted about 5 minutes and tried to pop out of gear but stripped a gear instead. I wheeled the rest of the day in high. Jay blew up both his front hubs on the Jeep.

I fabbed up some brackets and mounted my new radiator.

http://beer.thisdysfunctional.org/kids/Scout-Work/Aluminum_Radiator_Moun_ted.gif

Mounted the fan using H20 Heater straps.
Once I finish the moving of a few relays & the wiring, it all goes back together.

Also welded up the mount for the tire carrier:

I'll be using a spare spindle & locking hub for the hinge.

This past weekend I did some plumbing to repair damage caused by a basement wall collapsing. Fortunately they were just drain pipes, but there was a big gush of water and mud that wrecked a bunch of stuff.

I drove 3200 miles round trip this weekend to pick up a Furd for my son that also came along with a HP60 and Sterling rear with 4.56s. Now I just have to decide if I am going to do something with them or get rid of them...

Two weeks back I wheeled. This past weekend I added an "X" brace to the B-hoop of the racer's 'cage and started on a camera mount, and started bending the pitman arm to clear the frame a little better...

..should pull the trail rig in for a little bit and fix another broken lower front shock mount so I can go flog it again this Saturday..

Conditions are only right for iceboating about every 5 years or so. The ice is smooth, and the wind steady. With the ice smooth and no snow for traction it is a blast blowing by the snowmobiles like they aren't moving. The body is OK. the top is in really good shape the front fenders are repairable, the hood is in good shape as well as the doors. The interior is good. Just dont want to deal with it and for what these are worth it is easier to chuck it. The running gear is all one ton ford. EFI ford 460/C6/205 with hp d60 front and d60 rear.

I really considered have D and C customs do the "Rusty" thing to it. They do really nice work and the price was right. This route will be cheaper, faster, and I consolidate two vehicles into one. clears up space at the house!

No wheelin'...tied to the beeper leash this weekend.

Went to Pic-n-pull and grabbed two Ford Taurus fans and pulled a 10cfm York out of a motor home. Not bad for $40.00! Came home and realized I never measured for the fans. Not even close to fitting in there. Sigh. :(

Sometimes I amaze myself. :shaking:

Anyway they were cheap and they will stay around for the Caddy motor swap if I get around to that.

Replaced the tiny #6 York with the #10 York...much faster up to pressure now.

Nothin' magical, spent Sat replacing a door and doing a bit of rust removal using unbent undamaged sheet metal from the old door. Did find out there is a difference twixt the placement and size of the arm rest in a '75 vs the later version Midas door I replaced with by roughly 1" in length and 1/2" front to back in placement relative to the inner door panel of the '75...

rolled the tires next to my scout, and put a "monster valve" in one of em

Dang, the tires don't fit..

Here is the front, the tire is covering the sheetmetal by about 2"
http://rcrc4x4.com/gallery/albums/monstervalves/DSC08966.sized.jpg

Here is the rear - and it is allready SOA!
http://rcrc4x4.com/gallery/albums/monstervalves/DSC08969.sized.jpg

The Monster Valve..

One down 4 to go :)

Very easy to install, it is something I have wanted to do for a long time - add another valve so you can air up with one and stick a gauge on the other etc. Only I installed a much larger valve for the second one. Haven't had a chance to compare air up/down times but I will.. soon.. anyway - a few pics 8)

Tools used..
http://rcrc4x4.com/gallery/albums/monstervalves/DSC08964.sized.jpg

Step one - mark the wheel
http://rcrc4x4.com/gallery/albums/monstervalves/DSC08960.sized.jpg

Step two - drill the wheel (I used two steps of pilot holes before the final 7/16" hole)
http://rcrc4x4.com/gallery/albums/monstervalves/DSC08961.sized.jpg

Step 3 - tap the hole (I knew I forgot to take a picture of something but use your imagination, it's not that tricky to thread a tap into a hole ;) )

Step 4 - thread in new valve (I put on teflon tape but since one material was brass and one was aluminum I don't know that it mattered (two soft metals)

I took my front hub apart and verified that, yes, as I had thought, I had stripped the cap so it would not engage the axle... so I ordered up a replacement. $30 or so for that... Then I watched the tranny fluid drip out of the stupid shift lever seal... AGAIN. I think I replace that seal every three years.... so I need to drop the valve body and fix that....

took it to the muffler shop and got a quote for a new exhaust system. Wife and kids complain they have a headache from the exhaust after riding in it for a short while. I didn't think anything of it, figured it was their imagination. But, one of my coworkers almost called the fire department last week thinking there was a gas or chemical leak at our office. I drove my truck to work that day and evidently picked up enough exhaust aroma on my clothes that they smelled it after I walked through.... :(

Shop wants $400 to do all new 2 1/4" dual pipe, from exhaust manifolds back, custom bend up and between the rail and body (body lift made room for this) and outboard the pipes the rest of the way, punching out just in front of the rear tire...

I had to buy one new *turbo* muffler because my driver side muffler rattles, but I can reuse the passenger side... it is only about 8 months old... or so...

I originally intended to punch out behind the rear tire, but the shop commented on the fact that my rear quarters are caved in, extensively, right about where the pipes would end, and I likely would be pounding the pipes to pieces if I put them there. The area just in front of the edge of the rear of the rocker was untouched, so it looks like a *safe* place to put them while I learn to drive...

I'm a little worried about exhaust floating up alongside the truck when I have the top off but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Anything will be better than having it collect under the floorboards the way it does now...

I am tossing the heat riser valve... mine is cracked, and frozen open anyway... it doesn't get cold enough around here to really need it, since it gets parked in the garage all the time anyway...

Soon as the muffler comes in, I will drag it down and get it all done.... bad way to spend $400, but I suppose it is better than asphyxiating my family... and, maybe if I am getting better air, I won't be so tired after wheeling trips... ;)

I vote against the exhaust coming out the side infront of the rear tires.......

I ran the Harvester of Sorrow like that for many years and it will still stink you out at intersections and on the trail. PLUS the burb burb burb sound will get annoying on the trail.

It is another reason that I also wear hearing aids :(

I second that notion. Its best to run the exhaust all the way out back. If you have any leaks in your top or tailgate near the back of the vehicle it will have a tendancy to suck exhaust fumes inside the cabin area so make sure thats sealed up as well. Last thing you want on a roadtrip is the family getting sick from monoxide poisoning.

It's an SSII... sealing it up is like trying to plug the holes in a sieve... ;)

Wouldn't piping it out the side obviate the tendency to suck fumes in around the tailgate area to a large degree?

My father originally had it piped straight out the back, but, he said the problem was that because of the relatively low pressure behind the tailgate, it would suck the exhaust straight up and as you said, through the tailgate and such...... you couldn't drive with the rear flap open at all... so, he ran the pipes out the sides, just behind the rear tires...that is where it was for a long time, until I hacked it all up to make room for my ladder bar...

Thanks for the input, I'll talk to the muffler guy about piping it behind the tires....

Too bad you ordered mufflers already. A single 3" pipe might be cheeper and more worry free in the end. I absolutely loved the 3" on red. Only tagged the muffler once in all the years of wheelin it. They will have to crimp the pipe a little to get between the T-case and frame rail but it was way worth it for me in the end.

As for weekend stuff... looked at my new Dodge some more. Finalized my plans for suspension layout and what not. For those that dont know, I picked up an 89 Dodge 350. 60F,HD60R, FI360,TF904, married 23 spline 205. Not to rub it in but I got this little gem for $700 :grinpimp:

Version 1 will be shortened to 112"wb, replace 205 with D300 (direct bolt on swap), replace 60R with 14 bolt, 5.13 gears, 63" chev springs, move rear springs to the front, crossover steering, 35 spline stubs, re-chrge the AC :D (just kidding...it blows a cool 39*), 42" IROK's on hummer wheels, and beat it till Version 2 is required :smokin: We'll see if its ready by Naches

All the singles I have seen have had to have the y pipe running down across the bottom of the tranny... below the bellhousing, or else back by the t-case. Lots of stuff down there in the way on mine, with the ladder bar cross pc, etc.... I considered it, but while it may cost a little more for the double pipes, I think it will work better for me...
