what sye kit did you go with...and how much of an angle are you running.
its not hard to over angle the cv alignment joint..and then it can clunk...i thought my detroit was screwed up for a long time....

come on locals...here's a newbie with a real non:rainbow: question. Check your angle like moabyj said first.

Make sure the caps of the ujoints are seating properly in the cups of the yokes on the axle and the front of the tcase. They should have little ears to make sure all is well, check em out!
Had this happen to a buddy of mine once and luckily he caught it before they let go and put the shaft through the floor!
Made the same clunking noise you mention (he also got BAD vibes). He seated it right and now all is well!
Tranny mount tight? Also, check the bolts on the Tranny Skid Plate (the 3 on each side). Those could both cause that too!

Do you know if the clunk is coming from the driveshafts? Did you torque the CA bolts when it was on the ground? I torqued mine in the air and they kept popping, then i loosed them, set the Jeep down and then retorqued, after that, no pop.

Make sure it is not the sway bar bushings. I had a similar problem and that's all it was.:D

Hey Man its Brad, hit me off with an Email and I will take a look at the jeep. Could be an incorrect angle, we'll have to wait and see.

My TJ has actually had a similar clunk noise. I have a tera short arm kit with their uppers and lowers. Its got a SYE kit and CV as well. I had recently busted off my rear trac bar mount as is so common on TJs and I thought an adjustable rear trac bar would help prevent the busting. Ever since it went under the TJ the darn thing has had a clunk everytime I put it in gear and give it a little gas. I have talked to some people about it and they think my pinion is pointed a little high and is just clunking underload. I don't get any bad vibes from it though...I intend to give the TJ a belly up kit here shortly, plus I hate changing the pinion angle with these tera links all the time. SO that should help the clunk from what I have been told since the T case will be 2 inches higher.
I talked to some guys at rubicon express a while back about this and they thought it could be that with the CV the rear trac bar mount needs to be "clocked forward " to hold the axle better under the load. I guess they make a mount that is slightly clocked to do just that. This might be a solution to both our problems! What does everyone else think?

thanx everyone, i'm gonna try all of your suggestions after baseball(6:30), i know that the driveshafts are seated right in the u-joints, i checked that first, i torqued the CA's on the ground, i made sure that the crossmember was tight and that the tranny bolts were on tight, after looking i think that it may have to do with the front pinion angle, but it still makes that clunk without the front driveshaft so i'm thinking it may be the trackbar, thank you everyone for helping me, i'll keep you all updated of the progress
