If you were to put yokes and knuckles on the rear axle for a rear steering setup, would you run the rear with positive or negative castor? (yes, I'm bored and my mind is running away with itself :rasta: )

you'd want the top of the steering axis tilted rearward, just like on the front, this allows the tires to self center

actually i beleive you want the tops to tilt forward since the rear axle is trailing.

Well..... really you should have 0 caster. Think about the GM rear steer. Depending on the speed, the wheels will turn with or against the front wheels. So, you dont want to mess with one either way. Also, its electrically steered in the rear, so self centering shouldnt be a problem. But when you are talking about a trail rig that doesnt see speeds over 20 mph, all of this doesnt really matter.

Well, that make one for positive, one vote for negative and one vote for zero. Anybody actually know?

Since 99.9% of all rearsteer trail rigs are hydrosteer, it's a moot point. But I would say 0*

If for some reason it's not hydro, you'd want positive caster just like the front.

for going down the road:eek: you'd want the knuckles lay'd back like the front. for turning radius you'd want them the other way.

That could be fun. A steering wheel for the driver and the passanger.

Who gets the brake?

I emailed the guys at Twisted Customs and asked them how they set their rear 60. They said they set it at 0 and it worked well that way. HTH
