Ok, I have no idea how much this truck is worth. I was hoping maybe someone out there could help me out a bit. I have a 1979 Ford Bronco XL. It has a 400 big block, a 9 inch lift, 38.5 super swampers and is in excelent condition. The gears are stock. The fron axle is a reverse cut dana 44. Has a ford 9 inch rear end. I have a pic of it below if anyone cares to take a look. Thanks...

this completely depends on the condition of the body but anywhere from $500 to $2000

The body is in great condition!! I know that the Reverse cut dana 44 is worth at least 1,200.00 by itself. Thats what I was told by several mechanics any ways.

My rule of thumb is that if it is 4 wheel drive, and it moves under its own power, its worth an instant $1000. If something is wrong with it, then start subtracting money. My guess is that your rig would fetch about $2000 here, maybe $3000 if you found the right buyer.

Tony

BTW a RC Dana 60 is worth about $1200, a 44 you can get from P&P for about $250

What's up, you planning on selling your beloved bronco?

I've seen them localy advertised for $1800-$6000 depending on condition. It all depends on who has the cash.

No chance.....a dana 60 might go for that, but 44's are a dime a dozen......

1,500 - 3,000 for the whole thing

Hell no!!!!! I would never sell that thing!! I love it too much to do that!! I was just wondering because when I bought it it had beand new swampers (38.5) and already had the super lift. Thats like 2,500.00 right there. I paid 2,300.00 for the truck. I know I got a good deal on it. I just dont know what it's worth.

Ok, you had me worried there for a moment;) like I said I've gone and looked at broncos(78/79) over the past couple of years and I've seen them with asking prices that ranged from 1800-6000. I've wanted to get a big bronco but just can't justify getting a third rig. But I keep window shopping anyway:D
I think you did get a good deal. I value '78 with 4-speed highest 'cause they don't have to have catalytic converters.:smokin:

It's a 400M, but the 400M is a small block motor, not a big block

There is no 400M... just 400. Both are 335-series motors according to FORD, and the 351M was even referred to by FORD as a "351 Cleveland" in sales literature until the late-70s, despite the demise of the real 351C in 1974.

Which, BTW, was also the 351M's first year in production. The 400 had been built since '71, and was only ever called a 400 until the 351M was built.

You can call a 400 an M-block, but the designation comes from 351-Modified (for modified 400), and nothing else. It also helps relieve confusion between the 335 series motors, since all the 351C and 351M/400 have in common are the heads.

But technically, you're wrong. :flipoff2:

And yes, it has the taller bellhousing pattern in common with 385-series (big block) motors, but it's a small block.

Hey TripleBGirl- I say your truck up at Iron Mtn on Saturday. I had the white EB and my daughter had the camo Toy. Your rig is awsome. I'd say you could get 5-6 grand for that beast!
