Hey all,
I'm in the middle of installing gears into a rear M20. The axles have a funky ring under the pinion bearing race, and I'm wondering if that's supposed to be a solid ring, or if it has a crack in it? I've only seen two of these - one was in pieces, the other has a crack in it.

Something I should be concerned about? Not really sure how/why they're prone to damage if the race traps them in there and all.

So according to DTD, the 'spacers' aren't made anymore and they suggest using shims between the bearing and the pinion head. Any comments on this? Obvisouly, it's better than the stupid spacer that breaks and comes out on its own...
