I bought a 97 F250 and a 92 Ford MkIV today and I'm wondering if anyone has any info as to what sort of drive trains these would have. they are both ambulances from our town that unfortunately were burnt in their hall due to an electrical fault in the hall.
the fire damage on the 92 is extreme but the 97 got out with no interior or back coach work but under the bonnet looks warm but no melted alloy. the 97 has a powerstoke deisel in it. I picked the pair up for $500 AUS ($250US)

The F250 will have either an E4OD (if auto) or a ZF (if manual). BW13-56 (?) xfer if 4WD, 10.25 rear, D50 TTB in front (again, if 4WD).

What's a MkIV look like? Ambulance package, so I'd guess it's a van chassis of some kind??

hahaha... like we might even have a damn clue!
you should see the shit that comes from Mexico (ever seen a early 90s F150 with a 3.8L V6?) I can only imagine what they do on a different continent. :D :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :D

I think you might be right, sclemons the 97 has a powerstroke 7.3litre and an auto and the diff is not a dana but looks about the same size as a Dana70.
the 92 has a 5 litre injected windsor and an auto also.
( Fullsizes Rule, aparently there is a 4 litre turbo deisel (Brasilian made) motor available in our F250's as well)

LOL

Yeah, I could only guess that if they're electronic autos in both, they'll be E4OD's. Vac-actuated, and it's probably an AOD. But like Fullsizes says, there's no telling what they put in them down there.

The 10.25 is about the same size as a D70. If there's still a diff tag (if they use them down there? LOL), the 10.25 will say something like

4 10 10 2 AFEG
or
4L10 10 2 YRUE

Where the first two numbers are the ratio (4.10), the L indicates a limited slip, and the 10.2 or 8.8 or 10.5 or 9-something indicates Ford 10.25, 8.8, 10.50, and 9.75 rears. The last four characters are build date or something.

Thanks for that info, sclemons, I'm picking them up next week so I'll have a good look at them when I get them home and part them out.
