Typical York OBA set up in a TJ, using the adjustable in-a-grey-plastic-box type pressure switch. Everything's been working fine for about three years. Today it started acting wierd - turn on the York and it cuts on for about three seconds, then off for about five - over and over until it reaches the proper pressure. Three seconds on, five off, over and over like clockwork.
So I can air up, run the ARB, etc., its just the damn thing it taking forever to get up to pressure.
The only thing different about today was it was about 5 degrees and the heep had been sitting in that temp (and much lower) in the garage for a couple weeks, but nothing changed after the engine compartment got good and warm.
I know I need to cut the clutch wire and set it to the pos battery terminal to determine if the problem is clutch or switch. I'm afraid it might be the clutch - once or twice when it cut on it sounded like it was really dragging on the engine.
Does this sound like anything that's happened to anyone?
