Onetoncv said somthing about swapping a CV(double cardon)joint from a mini to a land cruiser has anybody have info on this?
Does it have to be from an IFS truck, the early 79-83 truck has one as well and it is allready 20" in length!

I am interested in more info too. I will be building a new rear shaft once the FJ55 springs go in. What years do they come from? Will the CV flange mate to the PB drum without redrilling?

How strong are they?

you have to redrill the t case drum, but if you send it to jesse with your old shaft he can do it, i forget teh years of teh cv. but teh set up is sweet. i never bent or had any vib problems and i use to drive my turd to teh trails all sumemr every weekend. jiMMy

I got my cv rear shaft from Jess a couple weeks ago. I sent him a parking-brake drum from a '76 cruiser and Jess said that the bolt pattern already matched so no re-drilling was required, just pressed in new studs.

I've got a front CV shaft from my 1984 mini sitting in the garage. The CV side pattern bolts up directly to the 77 pattern on the transfercase drum. However, the pinion patterns do not match. Gotta get me a round flange and do some drilling one of these days.

I'm even lucky enuf that the CV shaft and my current shaft are within 1/2" in length!

a ffront CV shaft out of a HJ47 or HJ60 fitted straight into the rear of mine (moved the diff backa fair way) and also the front from a 5 speed HJ60 fitted the front of mine, with CV and i just had to change the flange at the uni (unis are the same) EASY STUFF cheap too!!
