cut out all the IFS and swap a straight axle, CV boots are just the begining of your problems :flipoff2: It just like any other cv boot, dont buy the zipper type cuz they aint worth a $hit, if its like the cv's in the older blazer, they are kinda cool cuz they dont have the little balls and rings , they have individual bearings in a little hub thing, (those are technical terms of course)

It's pretty straight swap out. The biggest thing is buying the "new" 1-lol. Take off wheel/hub/rotor/caliper. Take off shock and "break" the ball joint loose on bottom (beware upper a-arm is "loaded" by torsion bar so it will force twoard the ground) Put jack under upper arm and jack up to get "clearance" to swap the CV's out. Figure taking about 3-4 hours to do with "regular" tools. Good Luck.......

Replace the whole damn shaft. Lot less work and it's waranteed. Get a shaft with the rubber boots instead of the pseudo-plastic crap they use. They will last longer. A few bolts on the flange side, and one big fawker on the wheel side. One trick is to use a gear puller to push the shaft out of the bearing. All in all, not too difficult.

EDIT: Make sure you get it torqued down to the correct spec. I think the axle nut has to go to 250 lbs or something outragrous like that. Yes, if that nut backs off, the wheel will fall off!
