Anybody know what the actual difference is between a 700R4 out of an S-10 (I think its an '89) w/a 4.3 and a full size with a 350 is? I'm thinking along the lines of clutch packs, etc. I have a line on a 700 out of an S-10, and need a tranny to get me by for a year in the Blazer. Basically, I just need to know if it will hold up. I plan on doing the ORD doubler and a new trans next winter, but my current trans is hammered beyond the point where I'd trust it. The truck is not a DD and specs are in sig.
Thanks,
Pete

The 4.3 700R4 will not hold up to what you have listed for specs. A 4.3 700R4 will only last for a few months behind a stocker 350 swap if it is romped on any. Suck it up and get it rebuilt. It is the same case, just different innards. To answer your question directly, I don't know what those differences are, but I know the 4.3 700R4 won't take the abuse.

The reason I don't want to have it rebuilt now is that when I do the doubler, the output shaft has to be changed. I want to get a newer trans as well, since I have the original '83 case, and '89 has the external valve body and is meant to work w/TBI.

Along the same lines as the original post, is my 98 4L60E from a 4.3 in a bravada different than from a 350?
