Have you started your search for the front Dana 60 Axle? Are you ready for the big $$ and are you sure you need 1 ton?
Other questions - what tires and lift? There are quite a few '1 Ton' setups around so when we can determine the degree of 'built' you need we can start making suggestions. I am 2Dogs on CK5 also - do a search on 1 ton there ;)

sell that 73 2 wheel drive to me & buy a 4 whl drive,i'll sell you 1 of mine.
2dogs is right!get out the bandages & whiskey :flipoff2:
you would spend way to much time & $$$$$ converting 2 to 4.
i don't think the frame is set up for it anyway, you could find a 4 whl to start
out with for alot less money & build from there.
seriously...i'd like to have a 73-75 2 whl k5,pm me if interested.

Your best bet would be to find an entire donor 1 ton truck. Or even a 3/4 ton for that matter. The 3/4 ton will have the same rearend as the 1, (14 bolt)

From there you can take measurements and convert yours to 4x4. You'll have to switch leaf spring hangers, crossmembers, all sorts of BS. You'll have to change the transmission to a 4x4 tranny and install a transfer-case.

Like was said before, 2wd blazers are rare. I wouldn't conver it to 4x4. But, if you still want to i actually have a '79 3/4 ton for sale! he he

Instead of a parts list lets talk more about money - does $8,000 - $10,000 scare you away from this project? You will need that to create something that is safe and reliable on and off road.

I spent that and more building mine and I did not need to add front 4-by suspension. If you are real serious you might think about a coilover front - might not be much more money in comparison to adding leafs. Don't think they perform as well on street tho. What is your goal for this project?

im sorry but WTF does that have to do with any gotdamn thing???

i need to make sure we read this right. do you want to make it a 2wd 8 lug or go to 4x4??

the 2wd rear is easy the front may need 1 ton a arms to work with the 1 ton spindles.

4x4 would be best to find a 4x blazer frame or some welding is going to be needed.
d44 8 lug is not 1 ton a d60 is

okay, 2 wd doesn't have a front axle, thats what screwed me up. Go to the junk yard and just get spindles and line them up and hubs and roters off of a 3/4 ton [one ton will most likely be a dualy]. 14 bolt 9 1/2 inch will work best because of size and weight [late 80's to early 90's 3/4 tons].

So what are your plans? Going to put a 14FF in it? Why do you need the beef for a street driven vehicle?

get a complete 3/4 ton 2wd truck, the front subframe/suspension assembly will bolt right on to your K5 chassis. also, the spring perch width on your K5 will be the same as the 3/4 ton, the 1 ton is 2" narrower, so you'll have to move the spring perches if you use a 1 ton 14FF. 3/4 and 1 ton 14FF, the only differences are the spring perch widths, everything else is the same.
