wow, got a call from a friend saturday about a possible diesel scout just down the road from me for sale cheap. so i went and found it sunday, but couldn't find anyone at home to talk to. went back by several times, still no one. finally caught up with them monday night and was able to look at it. its an 80 turbo diesel with a dana 300! bad news is the motor has thrown a rod. its apart and all in the rear. long story short, I traded an 88 waverunner for it tonight! so now i gotta get a motor or fix this one and i'm finally in a scout. i still want to build my other one but this one is so much closer it will have to do for now.
It also has the unusual rims on it that everyone seems to want. anyhow, i'll try to get some pics up tomorrow of it. :smokin:

Toss the TD engine. You should be able to get some good $$ for it on BB because of the turbo.

Swap a SV engine in there quick. Get it on the road and go from there

I just changed directions and am going to a 383 SBC in mine. I have a freshly overhauled and built up 345 for sale.

actually i've got another diesel engine spotted and hopefully i can get it saturday. we'll see if the guy backs out or not. half the reason i bought this one was the diesel part. i know they're slow, but i don't care. just my personal preference. nothing against the gas engines, just have a thing for diesels, and definately dislike carbs.
the first thing i'm gonna do is get it running, then i will start in on a springover.
if i use any other motor than the factory one, i've got a chevy 6.2 and th400 setup for a dana 20 sitting in the floor i was working on putting in my other scout. Only reason i haven't put it in the 73 yet is i've decided to do the doubler on it, and i'm looking for a 203 for a th400, and then gotta cough up money for the doubler adapter. already got a j@*p dana 300 ready for it.
