For anyone running Rocky Road coil kits. Be sure that this kit is installed correctly and that you make sure it fits your rig when running it with coil suspension. Or you will spend more money to make it safe and to make it work correctly.

Let me guess your tie/drag link hits the panhard bolt area at the axle... If I am right it is because you rotated your pnion up so it threw everything out of line..... And now its there fault... If I am wrong ignore this but if that is the problem then I stand behind its not there fault... And No I dont work for RRO

No it doesn't hit the bolt on the panhard bar. They way the kit is designed it hits the pitman arm. Also the proper angles are not obtained. The drag link should match the same angle as the panhard bar which it did not, because of a poor design. Also they sell it with there coil kit. I install all kinds of kits on people's rigs as well as do custom fab and 4x4 tech.

How does it hit the pitman arm? Doesn't it ATTACH to the pitman arm???

Also, I have seen their steering setup installed in a Zuk with coils and toy axles. Although I didn't really care for the design I worked just fina and didn't hit anything. I dunno what is wrong. Matter of fact............. Here is a pic of the rig it is on.

That is my samurai that Art posted and he is right, I have had no problems with that steering setup. I don't understand how you are hitting your pitman arm. What did you have to pay to have done to get it fixed? I'm interested in knowing exactly what the problem you had was.

Also I spend as much as I bought the kit for to have it fixed right so it would work. I install all kinds of kits on people's rigs as well as do custom fab and 4x4 tech. I have never had these sorts of problems with anyone elses kits.
If you "do custom fab work and 4x4 tech"...why did you "spend" so much to "have it fixed"??

Not trying to stir the $hit...just curious.

I would have to agree. As many times as i have seen it installed on different vehicles i would have to guess that it is operator error.

As you look at the picture posted above NOTICE that the kit is not istalled properly, Nor is it installed the way RRO designed it. You cannot install your drag link on top of the TIE ROD as the picture clearly shows. This will stress the tie rod end and one day while driving down the road it will just break off. Guess what it happened to one of the locals here. Also notice the angle of the drag link in relation to pan hard bar. Inncorrect angle will give your zuk poor steering characteristics. As far as costing me money. TIME IS MONEY AND WHEN YOU OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS ANY TIME SPENT ON YOUR RIG IS LESS MONEY IN YOUR POCKET> I have seen this kit on 5 different Samurai's and everyone has had the same problem with clearance between the tie rod and the pitman arm. As for SHORTY RAIL please install the kit correctly before it kills you or someone else.

First thing I did not let RRO install it. I had my kit before they built theirs . I recieved the instructions from Shaffer which is who built the kit. The kit is a kick ass kit and works very well. I have not flexed it at the mall yet so I guess it might work there too. These kits are for OFFROAD USE and not, LOOK AT THIS CRAP I HAVE that will never go offroad. I am not flaming your ass about your kit but TRAIL PROVEN KITS WILL RULE. Street lift kits well stay on the streets. ( BLINK BLING PATROL ) :grinpimp:

Thank goodness you installed it yourself. . My rig is definetly not a street rig but also not a trailer queen. Trust me my ASS don't get flamed over constructive conversation. Does your rig have 14" 175 springs, bumpers fenders, hood, winch, 1.6 motor etcc. or are you running a lighter front end. Also I have several rigs in the area that all had to have the kits BOUGHT from RRO modified because of clearance problems and one kit that like I said broke after installing it with the drag link on top of the tie rod. Go flex yours out and notice the stress on the tie rod ends. I just want to make sure that the kits are installed correctly and that they are safe.
