o.k. guys, my belly pan is done and installed, 2'x3' 3/16" plate with l.c.a. mounts parallel to the transfercase mount, lots of t-case and under body protection, the l.c.a.'s are 35" long with johny joints at both ends, the rods are 1 1/2" 1/4"wall thick. now the question is this, I have built an u.c.a. on the right side with an adjustable rod end mounted to the right side l.c.a. every thing is pure beef. now can i get away with one u.c.a. just like the rockcrawler kit, or do i really need 2? two of them would distribute the upward rotating action upon forward accelleration and downward in reverse but how much stress is there really up there?

Well I looked at the rock crawler while being installed and it looked pretty good. So I would say if it is pretty close to the same system as the rock crawler system, then it should be ok. Make sure that you weld strong welds on it since it will be getting alot of pressure on it............peace

i'm fabbing a home built long arm (front only) for my TJ and will try the same thing, I think it'll work (if not, i'll just fab something different). Anybody have any opinions on this?
Anybody 'cept Welby the ':rainbow: jeeper'!

With heavy duty components and without soft rubber bushings, you can use a single upper control arm mount, as long as your running a trackbar. I built all my arms with heim joints and ran two lowers at centerline, one upper with a fairly tall axle mount, then of course the trackbar.

Yes it can be done. But in my opinion 2 is better than 1. RK uses a solid rod for the arms. The only reason for the single upper is because the header and pipe are in the way on the passenger side.

I know this isn't exactly what your talking about.

But here is my 0.02

I broke the passengerside upper control arm due to exessive flex. this was with a Teraflex 3 inch kit, and factory upper control arms. (which are weak to say the least)

When the passengerside broke. It still worked fine with just the drivers side, Untill I drove home. Got about 1/4 mile from home hit the brakes to stop for a red light ( I try to obey the laws :D)

And SNAP.. BANG,,, POP... ?

The drivers side upper control arm snapped due to deceleration forces on it. When it broke the front end rotated forward and ripped the front driveshaft out of the front end. It took the yoke with it. TO get home, I used a comealong to pull the front end back to where it should have been and drove slowly.

If you are only going to use one upper control arm make sure its strong, and make sure you have no binding of it, Cause if it snaps your fawked.

Also, if your using heims, you can't run two lowers, two uppers and a trackbar, it will bind.
