I am installing a 429 w/ c6 into my 68 F250 4x4. I know I have to change mounts on the engine, but when I set the engine into the frame, the transmission pan hit the the first crossmember. Has anyone done this swap before? What do I do about the crossmember. The truck had a 4 speed originally. Can I cut it out? Help.

You should be able to take out the original 4spd crossmember and either make a tranny crossmember for the c6 or put the crossmember in that you got with the donor vehicle.

What I have is a crossmember that the transmission bolts to and one just in front of it. I was wondering if this was the one the 4 speed bolted to and if I still needed it.

I put a 460/c6/np205 in my 69 F250, it used to have a 390/435/divorced d24. I removed the crossmembers and modified a later model ford truck crossmember. Basically I had to make it drop down 2" to hold the c6 in the right spot as it's a bigger trans.
