: Steering box improvements

I have a 90 dodge ramcharger. The steering was loose so I had the ball joints and tye rod ends replaced. Now it seems too sensitive it always over steers. BTW, I also have a steering stabilizer. So now I'm thinking of replacing the steering column and or steering box. What are your thoughts? If I replace the steering box, are there any modifications I can make (or newer parts) to get a more modern/stable feel to the steering.

Lastly, the brakes suck. Any inexpensive upgrade options?

Thanks for the help,

Erik

You spent money tightening the steering up and now you want to spend more money to loosen it back up...

Go to the local PNP and get the tie rods steering box steering column from the oldest ramcharger you can find(that way they will be nice and wore out)and install those parts

i have a 1987 ramcharger and when i bought it the sterring was hella sloppy so what i di was just replaced the steering gearbox with a remanufactured one. that seemed to do the trick, it doesn' wander any more or nothing.

It would not hurt to have someone competant to check your alignment. Also most of the time on the older dodges (70s 80s) the steering box coupler is the biggest problem.

Try it without the steering stabilizer. They tend to inhibit return-to-center; bet it'll fix the "oversteer."
