What is the ideal backspacing on 16 inch wheels when running 35 inch tires. I would like to run Q-78s but not sure on how much spacing would be ideal 3 or 4 inches. I have a range rover.

So if you live in Las Cruces, are you going to be at the Chili Challenge?

BTW, I ran about 4.25" of backspacing with my 35's. These were the 12.50" wide tires.

3" is too little backspacing. You are increasing your chance of tearing off the flare, and biting the upper fender well and popping the welds on the outer skin.

He did mention Range Rover, not Defender. 3" backspacing would require removing the fender on a RRC.

I don't know about you guys, but I would never quote any number less then 9" under my name.

Sorry Try again, 3" wont work without some body work.

I award you no points.

With that attitude Pendy, I think you as well have failed.

3" backspacing would require removing the fender on a RRC.

Hence too much cutting to have a fender still in existence.

Simma down!

How about 3.5 backspacing. Works for a D1 with some minor trimming.

Just ordered some 16 x 8's with 3.75" backspacing for my D1. I'm hoping they will work with the fenders sawzalled and flared!

Who said you wouldn't have to cut the fenders? He asked for ideal, that would be ideal to me.

Oh and bill,

You can run 3in all day long in a Defender, you just have the weld the entire lenth of the inner and outer fender. :p

"Ideal" for me is what I asm currently running 15x10 with 4" BS with 36x13.5" IROKs...I think with 35x12.5 tires you "may" be able to get away with 3.75 or 3.5

I am formally requesting pics of this... And not with a puny 10.5" wide tire on skinny ass 6.5" wide rims.

I want to see flex pics, not driving over mall speedbump pics...

While your at it you might as well shoot a pic of your bumpstops, they'd have to be much bigger than stock to keep the tires from stuffing up the fenders.
