If anyone has one of the aux fuel tanks for a FJ40 they want to get rid of,
give me a shout. Let me know how much you want and what all it comes with. I
may have to make some modifications to one to work for my little project, so
I would really prefer not to lay out the cash for a new one.

I have one that is made by Aerotanks. It is a 22 gallon and can either be mounted using two long bolts through the tank and bed area of the 40, or by using mounting straps that go under the tank. It has a sender in it that is at the right ohms for Autometer gauges, and I have two different fill necks that I will sell with it. It has nipples for emissions, return line, feed line, vent lines, so it can be used with fuel injection or carb. It also has an integral skid plate that is very stout. It is currently setup to fill from the rear of the vehicle but the neck can be placed pretty much where ever you like.
It cost me $350 + shipping and the filler neck from Conferr and I'd sell it for $250 for all. I'm a little flexible on the price but I don't just want to totally lose on the deal. I installed it but the thing has never been used so it is still brand new.

I liked the junkyard approach. I put in a tank out of a Samurai. It is like 10-12 gallons (all I needed), it fit with my rear axle moved back and it was super simple to mount. Just something else to think about.

The Samurai tank is basically rectangular. It's about 24" wide, 16" front to back and 12" deep. The fill tube is on the right side, same as the cruiser. It mounts in it's own skid plate so it's pretty well protected. I liked it for the fact that it was easy to mount and I really didn't need a 22 gallon tank.

a guy in town here is using the fuel tank from a ford ranger for this, fits right up inside the frame, behind the shock crossmember.
He said it went in without any mods at all, looked like an excellent fit, and there certainly wasn't any room to put a bigger one in there.
cheers
