i started going to mud-n-yer-eye about 15 years ago and will not go anymore. just not what it used to be. too many chiefs and not enough indians, nevermind the crowd itself. and on top of that fawking thieves stealing shit at night, even off people's rigs! sorry to put a downer on this guys, but it's the truth. :(

The 2005 registration form should go up on the website pretty soon. Btw- the phone number above is disconnected as I've moved.

Every year there's at least a few people who drink way too fawkin much and get out of control. It gets worse when a group of jerk-offs do it.

It's gotten worse the last couple years. Last year some asshat set fire to a picnic bench. Fawkin morons. We came very close to losing the privelege of using the park altogether.

This year there's been a lot of discussion in the club about how to deal with $hit like this. I don't know precisley what we'll be doing, but it will be made very clear to all registrants.

If crap like this happens again, I'll be voicing a very strong opinion to make it an invitation only event, no open registration. We can easily get 150 rigs by invitation only. Our guest list is over 500 and we sell out every year.

Stay tuned....

as another option, we should join MTA at Hollister when they do their pre-run. this way, we can wheel Hollister outside the event, hang with MTA and avoid the crowd. Dave Gross noted their pre-run dates but I don't have them handy.

Would anyone be interested in spending a weekend there and wheeling? We'd be camping in the regular overnight spots and it would be just like a normal weekend at Hollister, but a bunch of Toyotas and cruiserheads.

I think this is a great alternative...

please do not get me wrong guys.

i know that phil, ray, scott, dave,......and all the other MTA guys and their wives put together a great event and work very hard to do so. the food is way better than most other events, and so is the raffle and trail layout itself. the poker run is a lot of fun also.

the only real problem with the event is what phil mentioned. the attendees. i think making it an invite only event would be a great way to solve most of the problems, even though alcohol will throw a wrench in that equation, no matter what you do.

I mailed the flyers out Monday Jan 31. If you attended last years frolic you should be getting a flyer in the mail. If not PM me and I'll send you a flyer for the event. The web site will also have flyers in a day or so.
Thanks,
Dave

As some of you know or don't know, I've attended Mud-N-Yer-Eye for 25 years and I've been a MTA member for 22 years (CAl 4 Wheel and TLCA too). I have to agree with orangefj45. There have been bad apples over the years and those few bad apples seem to give all of us a bad taste. Yes there are good years too. I think the good is over shadowed by the bad. I've talked to alot of people over the years and most of the time the reaction is good. Some come to the event just to see people that they have not seen for a year.
I often ask myself "Why do I do this again?" Will its becouse I enjoy seeing everyone that has attended over the years and new people that are attending for the first time. Yes its alot of work. Is it fun? Ask me that on April 26th. Or even now, yes its fun. Well I continue to work as hard as I do? Heck ya!!

Dave

that has been the biggest reason for me showing up for the last 5 years or so. grew up wheeling with a lot of people and over time, some of us have moved out of the area, but this event seems to bring everybody back together. good times.

and damn dave, 3 posts in 3 years and 2 of them on this thread?! :flipoff2:
