I am ordering my new Swampers this morning and I am wonering what size wheel to go with. I am getting 35x12.5x15 SSR's. Should I go with an 8" or 10" wheel?

8"
always try to get at least 4" of difference between the tire width and the rim width. Harder to beat up your rim and harder to pop a bead...

with the 8", do I have to worry about stability problems compred to the 10"?

Its easier to pop a bead with aired down tires running a 10" wheel instead of 8".:skull:

Nope, no stability issues at all.

I have been lurking around here for a while......just don't post much. But, I guess I am still labeled as a newbie anyway.....:flipoff2:

I've always used the 2/3's rule...

12.5 x 2/3 = 8.3333 rounded to 8" rim

14.5 x 2/3 = 9.6666, rounded to 10" rim.

10.5 x 2/3 = 7" rim.

10.5 - 4" = 6", which IMO is too narrow.

And, for you dragstrippers, running a 6" tire on a 2" rim is just plain silly.....lol

I'm running 35x12.5R15's on 10" rims and I *hate* them, the rims are too wide, they messed up my perception of the vehicle's width and affected my wheeling. I haven't popped a bead yet, but I've had persistent problems with debris (rocks, sticks) getting caught between the tire and bead when I air down and causing slow leaks...what a PITA!

I'm going back to 8" rims as soon as I can.

Donno,

Sounds a bit exciteable to me. He would probably get them on his rig and then immedately roll it and try to sue me for selling him faulty rims ;)

Besides, he would pay more in gas and time driving down here than the rims are worth!!!
:D
