you know those pretty bags with snaps that hold your rear windows that came with the tj? they hold spare axle shafts and a rear driveshaft pretty damned nice.... :D just strap the bags in and the splines and such are protected... :D

Well fooey, mine didn't come with any of those (darn hardtop) ;). My buddy did use one of those bags that those folding chairs come in to put his axle shafts in :D.

duct taping old socks over the splines works for me. They you could have sold the bag for 20 bucks or so and bought some

I use the empty cardboard roll from a roll of papertowels to cover the splines, and then cover the whole shaft in clear shipping wrap (like heavy duty saran wrap). keeps water/dirt out and protects the splines. It takes a few minutes to get the wrap off when you need an axle, but it keeps 'em nice and clean/protected.

what, you're supposed to get bags??? Just the other day I found out you're supposed to get a video too...
Not that I really care, but I feel cheated!!! :crybaby2:
I use unistrut along with clamps used to hold pipe for my spare axle assemblies. This is an old photo with narrow trac spare shafts which just fit between the wheelwells. The unistrut is bolted to a box in the rear of the Jeep. No rattles with this setup and it is as secure as you could ever get it. See www.unistrut.com for many uses. http://bbs.off-road.com/wwwthreads_uploads/9-514812-unistrut1.jpg
