: Battery placement with 350 setup
fj40_rico 02-03-2005, 04:34 PM I searched but didn't find anything. Just wondering where people are putting the battery when they do a 350 swap. Pictures would be nice :D. I don't want to place them under the seat.
Thanks.

KOWBOY 02-03-2005, 04:49 PM My junk's sorta different but I put one behind each front seat to get the weight in the center of the rig. I used Optimas so I wouldn't have acid dripping down my neck if/when I go turtle.
Sorry, no can do pics. :(
heavytlc 02-03-2005, 04:53 PM If you tie the mount into the top off the stock shockhoop on the pass. side, just behind the headlight, a standard size optima fits nice. Do not use the sheet metal to support the battery, if you can avoid it.
warpdriv 02-03-2005, 06:44 PM Go here and scrool down about half way. Mounted it off the shock bolt and made the other mount to the frame.

hth,
Vortec_Cruiser 02-03-2005, 08:40 PM I got my batteries out of the engine compartment, and put them under the driver's seat. Just be sure to use adequately-sized battery cables (I used welding cable).
fj40_rico 02-03-2005, 09:08 PM I just looking to see what people are doing to keep it/them in the engine compartment. I would go with under the seat but don't really want to have to run cables from there.

cruzerman350 02-03-2005, 09:17 PM my battery stayed in the stock place. i dont quite know what your asking because theres enough room for the battery even with a 350.
troyintahoe 02-03-2005, 10:30 PM Nothing fancy
Mine was mounted just like the last pic. Then I put it where the rear heater goes. Then I moved it to where it is now, right where the heater motor used to go. I took a plate and welded up my own bracket and mounted the optima on its side. I moved it there to get it out of the foot area for the rear seat ( which never really was used), and I did not put it back by the fender because I no longer have fenders and will be going to tube as soon as I get time to put metaltechs kit together. There's enough room on the fender area to mount two batteries if you wanted. Even with the big old over the rail headers I used to have my battery fit fine there.
71-Cruiser 02-04-2005, 05:53 AM There was a thread on Mud last week about the same thing

GloNDark 02-04-2005, 07:43 AM I put mine on the firewall where the stock heater blower used to be. Not exactly a solution for a "Stock" cruiser. But with an aftermarket heater, it worked out pretty good.

DING! That is where is going. I actually have an aftermarket heater too so I don't need the blower.
Perfect... Thanks.

Mine to, but I made a mount that was more like a Jeep style mount that has a plate that is bolted to the original four holes in the fire wall and then the mount is welded to that plate. It positions the battery the normal way instead of mounting it vertically like Glo's. I can get a pic of it if you want.
