We just put a homebrew shackle flip on my buddy's 79 blazer and it looked good sittin' still. Soon as it moved the shackle flopped back to where it was sittin' flat  He's running an 8" lift spring so it's a lot longer than stock and when it compresses it puts the shackle way back.
Anybody had this problem? How'd ya fix it? We tried movin it up and now it just wants to flop forward

hows it sit on level ground? it should be back at about 30-45*. i had problems inverting my shackles and bent a set of 52" springs that way.

This ones not inverted though. Even on level ground the shackle is parallel to the ground, with the spring eye behind the shackle mount.

if you can't get it to work with the stock shackle you will need to get a longer shackle

That's what I was thinking. A longer shackle should make it fine. Where can you get one that's tapered like that?

parallel, as in its pointing straight back? i didnt have that problem with my homebrew shackle flip. i actually had 0* on mine. they were straight up and down, thats why i inverted them when flexed up in reverse. A longer shackle will definitely fix your problem. You can get 2" lower shackles from a vendor on fullsizechevy.com for cheaper than summit and they're greasable on the shackle end. you can see pics of em in my 'Project Kruggy' thread....
