I am running a 93 YJ with a stock dana 30's. I currently have 31 inch tires and I run 70mph at 2000rpm in 5th gear. I hate the fact that I max out about 70mph and I am afaraid to even take it on the interstate. I am planning on getting some different gears. I think the factory ones are 307 or 308 gears. But I am also putting on 33 inch tires. What gears would I need to turn my 33's and still have power and speed on the interstate?

Go here:http://www.4lo.com/4LoCalc.htm and plug in your numbers. Should tell you all you need.

The web is crawling with gear calculators. A google search would have brought up a handful for you.
What do you mean that you max out @ 2,000 rpm /70 mph and are afraid to go on the interstate? Two grand isn't over-revving with any engine... and 70 is quick enough for any SWB Jeep.... You might want to re-gear for a tire size increase, but it's not clear what your current problem is.

You cant run 33s on a YJ - they are too big. You will need to upgrade to a digital dipstick though if you are running 31s. You dont want the oil to get too low.

How about some specs? Engine/tranny? I will assume with 3.07s you have a 6cyl/5speed. With 33s I would go with 4.10/4.56. Most likely 4.10 simply because you could just grab the axles out of a 4cyl YJ for cheap and bolt them in.

i got rid of my daner 30s and swap'd in some more beefy daner 35's

as for tire size if you only have daner 30s you should only run 30" tires
get some daner 35's and you can run up to 35" tires
i dont know why you guys think you need your daner 60's who runs 60" tires these days

If your only running 31's I would wait to regear till you step up in tire size. If you regear now (which is not cheap) it is likely you will have to do it again when you get a lift and tires.

when you do put on your 33s i would recamened something like 4.10 or 4.56. also dependin on if you wheel it or not you may want to upgrde your d35.

Why can't I run 33's on a YJ. I have a 4" suspension lift, I think they will fit fine. And as for the digital dipstick I don't understand why>

you will be able to run 33s just fine. and for the digital dipstick that is just the people on the jeep forum messing with you. i would recamened posting any questions you have here and dont bother with the jeep forum, all they will do is flame you.

What he said. I'm still kicking myself for not waiting would have saved me a ton of cash.
