FrankenRover 02-04-2005, 04:34 PM Dang,
Nice Xterrains! :flipoff2: Dont those ride rough on the highway?
At least he didn't start the bidding at like 25K
Billster
ps. I love the part in the ad about the truck having the heaviest duty axles you can buy for a LR..... Hehe.... Land Rover.. Heavy Duty Axles..... Hehe
MilSpec 02-04-2005, 04:42 PM So does that $68,000 include labor hours. I know Kings are expensive but man.
Awesome truck, if only I hadn't bought that other damn truck. :(
Buckon37s 02-04-2005, 05:39 PM That thing looks awesome to me. I never thought I would ever see a RR I thought was cool looking.
Serious One 02-04-2005, 05:49 PM That thing looks awesome to me. I never thought I would ever see a RR I thought was cool looking.
Snob. :shaking:
revor 02-04-2005, 06:07 PM Awww Dave hurt Mikey's feewings...
Come on Mike quit fooling around with making your truck run and stuff and start cutting and welding!!!

Bluewater 02-04-2005, 06:08 PM my favorite part of the ad is:LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 1988 BETTER THEN A D90 GREAT 4X4
You gotta admit, with the exception of the Rover axles that's a pretty good deal right now for less than $10K.
Also, is it me or are half the tires mounted backwards.
JSBriggs 02-04-2005, 09:27 PM Also, is it me or are half the tires mounted backwards.
Better breaking for the front, better traction on rear.

Sniff....
I need to get some 220 wired into my gay-rawge so I can learn how to glue metal together. Getting ready to order some tires for the CC, and then put them on my newly powder-coated rims. THEN I can start measuring for the chop-fest. :D
RokHeep 02-04-2005, 10:56 PM I like it, other than the lame hood bars.
He could have easily kept them under the hood, especially if he used 12's...

Do you mean Braking, or Breaking as in lots of rover parts!
PTSchram 02-05-2005, 08:21 AM Ooh, a Massive fire truck gas cap!
sachilles 02-05-2005, 08:24 AM I'm the last person that should be judging anyone,.....but it did seem odd to stay with rover style axles. Doesn't even mention what axles he is running.
However, for the current price, there are an awful lot of decent parts on the rig.
JSBriggs 02-05-2005, 11:49 AM Do you mean Braking, or Breaking as in lots of rover parts!
Freudian slip! But I meant braking.
As viewed from the top if the 'arrow' of the tread points forward, you have better grip during braking, if it points backwards you have better traction.

You sure you weren't thinking of this?

cptyarderho 02-05-2005, 02:00 PM what is the purpose of the bars on the hood?
sachilles 02-05-2005, 02:26 PM I think it creates support for the coilovers. Braces the coilover mount from the front side.
cptyarderho 02-05-2005, 03:30 PM you are probably right, it is hard to tell from the pics but it looks like that is the set up.
kellymoe 02-05-2005, 03:35 PM Here is a picture of the same RR, I THINK, at Hungry Valley OHV area. He busted the rear diff trying to climb the rock crawling course and spent alot of time trying to get the rig off the rocks. It is a well built truck. Wonder if he has fixed the diff yet? It is missing the bars on the hood but has the same hood mounted oil cooler and the engine sure loks the same.
If I recall there were originally 2 white Rangies that travelled together. One had the hood hoops and the other didn't. I think Way had some pics of both of them together in Moab a few years ago.
Black Mustache 02-05-2005, 10:06 PM thats a different truck- the one at gorman/hungry is the same rig that pulled me off the mountain when my diff got blowed up on miller.
that rock garden is a bitch, btw- it took me 2 hours to get 75 feet with a good spotter.
DougW 02-06-2005, 03:47 PM Yup, that's Alan Lieberman's rig, which also has an oil cooler with fan on the hood -- and under the hood is a 350 Chevy V8.
Doug W.
I have a couple of pics of the truck that is on Ebay. Fab work looks nice. I have never seen it wheeling, just in a parking lot. If I had a more stock rangie, I would buy this in a heartbeat for the parts alone. 10K seems very reasonable. Heck you could probably get 10K for the axles on DWEB! :)
It ended up going for $14,900! That's more than I would have expected.
Bluewater 02-07-2005, 05:35 PM thats what a guy in my town was asking for his 95 Disco Over 100,000 miles...Mods:3" RTE Lift, Roof Rack w/4 hella cat eyes, LR brushbar w/3 hella 500's, 33" BFG MTR's :shaking: it's sad really
