I hope these pics are at it's lowest height setting.
http://randyellisdesign.com/REDRACERPICS/FRONT02-04-02.JPG

Looks like it has about 6" of gound clearance at the frame under the differentials. With any uptravel the front frame rails will be setting on the ground.
What is up with that??

I'm not an "Anti-IFS-er" like CAMO;p but That looks pretty weak to me. The A-Arms could stand to be a LOT longer to give it decent travel. and the Ground clearance is poor to say the least.

I would love to see a IFS Rock buggy designed for long travel with the use of longer A-arms (if that's even what they're called), one-ton u-joints off of 14bolt centers, and the same u-joints at the wheels; and Center slip shafts in between. With about 17" of ground clearance in the center at static height.

That would be SWEET!!!!

There was a pretty sweet silver "toyota" (totally custom, widedned and all) in the rags a year or so ago that had like 21" of wheel travel with IFS

One Question...

Where the hell do you put the Ice Chest

You all are failing to consider Randy Ellis' driving style. If you have seen him drive, you'll understand...

This buggy may not be best for the type of wheeling YOU do, but for the tight courses, that short wheelbase will ROCK. He may give up some climbing ability with that short wheelbase, but I think he'll earn it back with sheer guts and willingness to LAUNCH that thing... makes me think of him jumping trailers in the parking lot during the first ARCA season...

...and regardless of his finish (bet he'll do well, just the same), he will be a BLAST to watch drive. Expect to see serious hang time at the rock crawling comps. Cool to see someone playing with a new approach! :D  :D

Watch him drive? Hell, that's nothing compared to partying with him. That skinny fawker can drink.

There's going to be a lot of crying about those "fenders"!

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=324793

ARCA Rulebook:
Vehicle Requirments
Body
2. Fenders - All OEM fenders are approved for competition. Custom fenders must have a minimum horizontal surface area extending from the hood 5 inches.

well if it was me, driving in comps would NOT be the only time I would drive it. :flipoff2: I would like to take a buddy along or something......but that is what I would like to do. Randi preferred the single buggy idea.

I sponsored randy becuase i know he will do well in almost anything that rolls down the road- when i saw this rig in the beginning it looked a bit scrawny - now i think it looks sweet - that guy can build a rig - he was going for lightness and i believe he has achieved that- 1800lbs- I SAY GO KIK SOM BUTT Randy! It looks light for sure, kinda like a oversized quad racer. I'm wondering how long until someone brings stretched quad to the comps...

Do the rules outlaw handlebars ?

Randii

lol you were there to!!

i think that buggy is gonna have a real advantage in alot of the arca stuff...

think how stable a four wheeler (atv) is
you just punch it and go!!

I can't wait
I think 2-3 inches more clearance will be better though
