i have a 1997 dodge 2500 with a v10 and 116,000 on it. the oil pressure starts droping after about 40 miles of driving, on the freeway. if i push the clutch in it will go back up to normal as soon as the rpms go down.or if i down shift in to fourth and run the rpms up to 3000 it goes up. it's odd i don't know if it's the oil pump or what. because it only does it after you drive for a while. i would think that if it was the oil pump it would do it all the time. the oil pressure has hit 0 a couple of times on long drives. i need help. any help would be greatly apprectiated

Id throw a mechanical gauge to see what the actual reading. Sending units are prone to failing. My pressure drops on idle after its warmed up, but stays above 30 psi.
Dodges spec for oil pressure on idle is just 12 PSI.

My '95 is doing kinda the same thing.. if i keep it revved around 3k it makes the needle dance. I only have 106k on mine.

i'm going to replace the sending unit , but i have a feeling that it is not whats wrong. after a while my psi drops to 10 sometimes but hovers around 20. it was at 40 all the time and all of a sudden it did this. it was'nt a graduall thing. when i had my oil changed last it started to do this i check the level and it was over filled so i changed the oil again using the right amount. i looked for a blown head gasget and there was know singh of a leek. could the over filll done something else.
