your really wanting to achieve pre-load about .002 of an inch- its not much- how to describe pre-load- is this simply- when you go to turn your pinion after tightning a bit if its a bit sticky at the first slight bit of rotoation and then free's up- that's about .002 pre-load- if its kinda sticky all the time that's too much- remember to put lock tight and silicone on the nut- good luck-if its a toyota then remember to steak the nut into the grove when your done-Jesse:D
