I am also interested. Is stering effort increased? I have a Lock Rite out back now. Thinking about a 2nd. :smokin:

I have a lock rite and a true track that I swap in and out of my sammy. In mud I'd rather have a tight posi because streering in mud locked up in front is difficult. With the wheels turned all the way one side I will still go straight when locked. On rocks I'd rather have a locker, but it is harder to steer, power sterring pump starts to overheat, and the bind created by the locker will break parts more often. I run toy axles, welded rear.

I have a lockright in the forunt and a full spool in the back. Sterringgets to be a problem but she crawls over all most anything. Also when you lock up front and back like that It becomes very hard on the stock driveterain. It is hard on the axles :D . As for on the street it dosen't driv that much different. Tires churp on tight courners, a little more body role when you make a u turn, but it is all good..

Overall go for it. If you are on the rocks you will love it.

:D :grinpimp:
have a nice day

I've got lockers front & rear. After about a month and 2 sprained thumbs I got power steering. The only way to go

hey ladies ,
thx for joining my threat ;)

the steernig-thing makes sense :grinpimp:
- i'm mostley in mud & dirt , and need hard to turn, so i think spool in rear and open front shoud be the best way to go for me , what ?

... good to have friends here :D

pat.

I have a lockrite in the rear and front. With the hubs LOCKED and in 2WD on the T-CASE, I feel no differences on the STREET. I would never run 4x4 locked front and rear in 4X4 on the street.

Turning is more difficult. DOWNHILL turning is hard, uphill turning is not too bad. Power steering would be nice..

I can't imagine wheeling with an open dif.
The steering sucked very much badly.

Once I got the RRO Hi-steer I didn't have many more problems.
There are times you cannot turn and you have to rock the rig back and forth as you turn to get on a line. Power steering would be nice, but not required if you have a hi-steer and pretty good upper body strength.

If you drive on any ice and snow (on-road), use 2wd as soon as you shift into 4wd and spin the least little - it is like trying to ride a greased beach ball.

exactly. I would not recommend having the hubs locked on pavement w/ both front and rear locked. I don't think it's even recommended to be in open 4wd on dry pavement, either. if your hubs are unlocked, you won't feel a bit of difference.

offroad, like he said, downhill turning can be difficult. I don't have power steering, so a long day of wheeling can be a good upper body workout, but it's doable. I haven't had any problems yet, and I'm running stock axles.

I had EZ lockers frnt & rear with pwr strg. In hot temps with alot of tight turns, boil's the fluid. Put a cooler on it (basicly doubled the fluid), works great. But in tight corners, it handles like a pig. Being from the NW, wet muddy stuff the locker sometimes dosn't feel anything. My rear EZ started acting up and I replaced it with an ARB. Now I am saving for the front. Kinda hard to justify taking out a perfictly good front locker and replacing it. The front does not have that many miles on it. If they would have had ARB's when I put my axles togeather they would have them. The down hill tight corners can be a real pain. One corner I actualy unlock one hub. The first time I came down it with lockers in the sami the rear end was about 3 1/2 feet in the air. But my buddy grabed the back bumper on it settled back down. :)

A while back I was thinking the same thing. I already have an EZ in the rear, so why not one in the front. I happened to run across someone who did just that, and he let me take it for a spin. On the road with the hubs unlocked it's invisable. Off road with the hubs locked it's a diffrent story. Unless you have arms like Popeye, or want to get yours to looking like that, power steering is a must. In the end I decided to leave the front open. Never had a stuck yet and I have run trails with the best of them.
