Nobody 02-14-2002, 05:00 PM Sweet !
road1will 02-14-2002, 05:38 PM if i were there i would have kicked the ass of the fawkin retard who screams GRAB THAT and then all of the dumbasses who leap into the roll line of the truck as its going over while trying to "GRAB THAT".
if a truck is going over and it is well on its way, then you stand clear and let it take its course. dont jump in the fawkin way trying to stop it. whos going to win, a 200lb guy or a 5000lb jeep that has momentum :smokin:  :smokin: :flipoff2:
Newbie from mud country here who don't know jack about rocks, but with all those guys around shouldn't there have been somebody on the uphill side waiting to help with that? Like what you do when somebody's ramping?
dirtrod 02-14-2002, 05:47 PM There was a video just like that at tellico a while back...Except the fool driving stuck his leg out the window to stop the roll... SNAP ! you could hear the bones crack, then the bottom half of his leg flopped across the windshield sideways...oops

Yep, that is the way I meant it. Around here, anybody allergic to mud would be dead, that's all we've got for about 100 miles in every direction. We've got some hills, though. By the way, what is this "rock" stuff you're talking about? I think of I've heard of it but I forget what that word means.
Hats off to you for going where nobody else goes. Always happy to trade :flipoff2: :flipoff2: 's with a trailbreaker (I said "trailbreaker", I didn't say a thing about "rigbreaker"). And remember, rollover wrinkles on the body add character to any rig. I've heard that you can order them on that new Jeep Rubicon, as part of the off-road-look option package. And now you have them for free!
p.s. I wasn't implying criticism of anybody with my question, just trying to learn what to do on the rocks. It seems like it would be a good idea to have a walker on the high side on terrain like that, but there might be other factors I don't know about.
milkman 02-15-2002, 06:05 AM 92XJ,
Well somethings did go wrong that day....If you were able to actually watch the real video you could see there is a break down of communication among the group...
we HAD my winch cable hooked up for saftey.. alot a good that did me..!
I wish I had a 8274 warn, instead of my M8000 Warn.. if my line speed was faster that would not have happened!!! My winch controls are inside my rig and I never pushed that button so hard before in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!It just wasnt fast enough!!
Oh well.. I have some pretty cool character on my rig now... and it changes your whole outlook on wheeling once it finally happens..and its not a matter of "if".. its only a matter of "when" it happens to all of us!
I realized that my rig was not done after that.. Now I need to cage it and cut the roof off.. it gave me a reason to do it now!!!!!
PS I cant believe that XJ held up to that...

First off the "retard" as you put it was ORDERED not to stop Filming. He was to film no matter what happened! And he did.
So He yelled grab that. Big deal.
Yes I agree someone should have been on the High side (passenger) side of the Milktruck. We all agree now. A simple grab on the top and Milk wouldn't have spilled. :D
AS for standing in the fall line? Well, I wasn't there. But I know the terain, and there isn't too many other area's to stand. and that was a large rock they were standing on. The depth perception of the video isn't very true. They were (in my opinion) out of harms way.
He wasn't going to grab the low side of the XJ, he was headed for the high side to Catamaran it.
But you bring up valid points just the same..
Lets all think Safety even for the Spotters.

gunracer1 02-15-2002, 07:00 AM i floped my rig more than a few times and the last time it was a slow easy flop. i put my left foot out and down on the ground, yea stupid, but a natural reaction. i have been meaning to make up some half doors to make sure it never happens again. but it was hard to fight , when so many other things are going on. i here many people saying how stupid things are but, you have to be there a lot of times to know what happened. i did come to my senses and pull my leg back in before i went all the way over. and i have never done in the other three times i floped. but now it is really stuck in my head. mike

Dude. That is SO not true. We have plenty of rocks. They're right there - underneath the mud. :D
Besides, I think LBL (S.W. Kentucky) is closer than 100 miles, and it's got plenty of rock. I hope my rig is done before April - cause I think our group is going to head back up that way.

This is a high speed Roller coaster, Please keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times!
sound familiar?
milkman 02-15-2002, 10:35 AM Rob,
I aint tawkin Sheot.... I am just stating that everytime we went back to Johnstown... NOBODY, I repeat NOBODY even dared go near that hillside were this happened...I would just like to see someone else go up there and spank it!... as for creek falls.. as soon I find a Trailer.. I would like to go!...
Milkman,
XJ-dented, scratched, ROLLED, and soon to be topless....
"dont feed the animals inside the cage" hehe!!
TNToy 02-15-2002, 10:44 AM I wanna see Scott Ellinger take "the Mantis" through there. A Toy on wider axles, with a 0" lift and 44s should be more than stable enough... I think?

I think Land Between the Lakes is right at 100 miles. You're right, that is some good country up that way. There's also some rock 100 miles in another direction, in the Bankhead NF over in Alabama. Then if you go 200 miles there's plenty of rock in almost every direction, Arkansas, Illinois, middle Tenn. I was really just whining that its not RIGHT HERE where you could go on your lunch hour, but there really is plenty of rock around not far away.
What group is that you're talking about? Is it a local 4x4 club?
TNToy 02-15-2002, 06:38 PM Yes... and no. It used to be a club called Tuff N' Ugly, but it's now kinda just a group of guys who all wheel together. Most of us aren't Tuff N' Ugly members, and I'm the only one without a Jeep.
Here's a link to the pics I've taken from our last trip to LBL, and the rest are from wheeling around here: http://home.off-road.com/~mithrandir/trails/
