I was going to wait for the impending rebuild, but I need to get a new catalytic converter. It is time to mount the Thorley header that has been gathering dust in the garage.
The motor is still stock otherwise, and will probably stay that way other then a K&N. What tube diameter do you guys run, and did you choose it for max torque or top end? I am looking for torque.

1.75" works nice. I went to 2" and don't like it, I'll be going back to 1.75" as soon as I hurt this setup :D

I run 2", work good for me.
I run 2" on mine works good. It cost me $65 to make with a new cat and muffler. Had to run a cat this time so that I could take my 16v swap down to the ref..

I guess I should have said I noticed a loss of torque when I went from 1.75 to 2". 2" felt peppier on the freeway but my rig felt easier to stall when crawlin.

But that is on a 1.3 (bored 30 over), right? Think the 1.6's would take up the slack? I just ordered the Thorley so I will be doing the 2" upgrade in the next couple of weeks myself.

I'm running the Trail Tough Manifold back system and it is 2" all the way out. I like the power on the top end for the freeway and the low end doesen't seem to suffer at all.:D
