Sliding over from the jeep side and need a little help. A friend of mine has shelled 2 10 bolts in his K5(350 and 35's) He asked me to find him a replacement , and I think he should upgrade while he is at it. The problem is that he has a lot of moneyi n his wheels, and doesnt want to put any money in the front axle anyway. How could he upgrade to a 14b or 60 and still have his 6 lug. Sorry but on our jeeps we just go to 8 lug right out of the gate to get away from these problems.

could try a SF14b in the rear...they come in 6 lug. For the front, I'd prolly stick with the 10bolt...buying a hella spendy D60 and then making it 6 lug seems silly...maybe thats just me. ;) Decent hubs, good u-joints, and chrome-moly warn axels oughta keep his 35s under control as long as he isnt hammering the skinny pedal.

What size tires is he running? If he has 33's to 35's for a cheap fix he can upgrade to a 12 bolt, stronger than a 10 bolt. If he has bigger tires he need to upgrade to 3/4 ton or better. No cheap way around that, if he wants to keep it 6 lug.....:skull:

Sell the wheels and upgrade.
Lookin pretty doesnt do any good when you are broken.
I believe that Donovan is converting FF's to a 6 lug.

If he needs to keep 6 lug then I'd suggest a 14SF, thats what I did. A 14FF can be converted, there's been a couple people that have done it. Donovan's conversion allows you to keep the drum brakes. The only other one I've seen requires converting to discs.

Just got done with the blown 10bolt thing and got a 14bolt (10 1/2") ring gear, custom made semi floater that uses my existing 10bolt backing plates and brakes and had custom 6 lug axles made. It's the beef and makes the D60 look tiny. Only problem is that if you plan to wheel alot with smaller than 35" tires, the beef benifits become negative with clearance.

Don’t make the same mistake my buddy did ($1500 mistake) and by another built 10 bolt because we simply broke it again and ended up upgrading to a ff14 for half as much. And all that was requires was the axle $150, used rock crawlers $100 for 4, new perches $30, and little things like new break pads, break lines ext. $100, and heck it even had a gov lock that spins both 35s like nothing.
