The stock Dana 60 is a stout differential. But there are options available to increase the strength of it even further without resorting to more expensive aftermarket alloy axles. The stock 60 with 35 spline axles usually necks down to 1.3" on the long side (Dodge), and the outer stub is 1.33 on both Chevy and Dodge.

The Chevy D60 front that I have has the thicker axles on both inners already, but check your axle to insure you have the heavy duty ones. If you do not, I would assume that the thicker castings are available for Chevy Dana 60's as well. I have only done the research on the Dodge Dana 60. If anyone has PN's on the Chevy HD axles, send them to me and I will add them to the page.

Here are some standard Spicer part numbers for 35 spline Dodge Dana 60 and Dana 70 outers:

1. Dodge PN-660182-2: 1.5" at splines (35) tapers up to 1.71 at largest diameter, Long Side

2. Dodge PN-660182-2: 1.5" at splines (35) tapers up to 1.71 at largest diameter, Short Side

3. Dodge/Chevy PN 3-82-871: 1.5" at splines (35) , no taper, 1.5" along shaft, Outer Stub

4. Warn Hubs, 35 Spline, 1.5" Lockouts, PN 39346

(Note: PN 3-82-871 is the Dana 70 Outer stub part number for both Chevy and Dodge. Ford is different.)

Thanks Wolf. I've wanted that info, and now have printed and archived it. Now I just need to find a Dodge 60 housing to put that stuff into.

That 39346 Warn is the 35 sp. drive flange kit for a full float conversion, it has the slugs, snaprings and a cap/cover. $220 I think.
