How are you guys attaching your hybrids together? I scored a 1/2 ton working k5 for 100.00 today. The body is shot beyond anything and I am looking to put an 80 2x4 toyota on the frame.
Are you bolting them frame to frame? Making new crossmembers?

I am basicly running that setup on my hybrid wheeler. I used a 75 frame because the middle part of the frame is streight on the early 2nd gens so a stock t-case cross member can be mounted anyware. Then I used a 82 2wd body because I got it for free.
Here is the best pic I could find showing the body mounts. I started by building them from some 2x2 square tubing in a L shape mounted to a plate witch was bolted to the frame. Then I took my exo cage off the verticle leg of the L and joined the other end of the L with a short piece of 1x1 square to add a little more streingth. It has worked well. I rolled it at about 40mph in a tuff truck race and that area held well. The radiator hoop managed to bend the frame a bit and tweeked my fender bar slightly...

EDIT: oh and I don't think anyone bolts them frame to frame. Thats alot more weight and higher than you need to be with a hybrid setup. If done right it can be safe but most people who are smart enough to do it right also realize why its not the best way to go.
