Are the axle shafts from the 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern the same as the new metric pattern?


I may be putting in an older d60 in my 2wd 250 and was wondering if i could just swap shafts to fix the difference in bolt patterns.

are you talking, about trying to put sterling shafts in your dana 60, if so i dont think this will work at all since i dont think the 60's came in 35 spline carriers, i know the older 60 from the 70's were coarse spline either 16or 18 i dont remember. and i am not sure if the widths are the exact same either.

no, i have a 10.5 im just talking about swaping shafts from a 10.25 with the 6.5 bolt pattern into mine that have the metric bolt pattern

I have read here that the carriers are different, but interchangeable between the 10.25 and 10.5. But dunno if the shafts will interchange. THat would solve the spline problem, but I don't know about the wheel flange end.
