I noticed (via searches) you did an XJ leaf spring conversion onto your rig.
Could you give me the specs on XJ springs? They are about 52" long correct? Is centerpin center or offset, what are the measurements?
Thanks.

I think your right 52" sounds correct. as for the centerpin. Its offset about 4.5"- 5". I have a set im planning on using on my wrangler.

Rock buggy is right.

Ont thing to keep in mind is the XJ springs have a Huge spring eye and a normal spring eye :D

I did a shackle reversal up front witht e big eye forward the center pin was in the perfect spot.

In the rear however I wasted the big eye forward as well.
If this is done you will need to redrill the leafs to relocate the rear axle to the proper location or back a little from stock.

Xj spirngs are designed for spring ofer use. I felt I might lose some of the built in anti wrap ability of the spiring with the redrilles center pin. To help fix this cut the the small eye of another XJ spring off and then cut most of the big eye off.
I then placed this leaf directly under the main leaf of the pack I was using.
This kinda sorta created a half millitary wrap spring, That will hopefully hel with the wrap up.

I do however still want to run a anti wral bar.

I always figured they (XJ) would make good springs to swap in.
I posted a thread about a year ago about them but got flamed for it. go figure...
Any results yet? Or are you still under construction?
Thanks guys.

Still under construction

I can tell you this much...

When Nailhead and I were pushing my heep onto the trailer when I moved we missed the trailer and ramped right up the side if the damn thing and almost into the bed of the tow rig.

I'm assuming this moved your axle ahead?
I'm looking to extending my WB along with the swap.

I think my WB is about 100 or 101 inches now.

Make sure to get longer shacles with the longer springs.

I'm redoing my shackle hangers so I get about a 45 degree angle on the shackles when fully loaded down.

You will need to move your steering box forward probably I know I had to.

Yeah, good point to take full advantage of the extra travel the spring would provide.
How long are the shackles you went with?

Did you need to cut out and move the front X-member to do this?
I have the back end covered (fuel cell) didn't want to smack the stock tank with a 60:eek:

Does the XJ springs provide any lift? Since they are already set up fro SOA, it doesn't seem that they would. I am curious since I am interested in a similar set up.

I know that Jeepskate has made homemade orbit eyes with the large spring eyes.

With the spring over and the extra leaf and a 1 inch body lift the 38" boggers seem to fit very well and I will need minimal trimming

Heres the front in the early stages.

I will be cutting the stock cross mamber out and will replace it with some 1/4" plate that will hold winch and the new relocated steering box brace.

So basically they provide about the same lift as a stock CJ or YJ in a SOA configuration.

If thats the case, it would be awesome. Jeepskate used Currie johnny joints fitted into the large spring eyes to create homemade orbit eyes.

HMMM O might have to do that Jonny joit thing.

Heres another pic this is an older one. I threw my jeep together to get it moved to my new house.
This is without the extra leafs in all 4 spring packs. and I hadn't redrilled the rear springs at this time.
The axles under it in the pic are waggy axles I am now using 63" wide cherokee chief front and a 63" lincoln 9" rear.
